Intel Kernel Security Check Fiasco - Is INTEL in TROUBLE?! #Meltdown

06:38
So a HUGE security flaw in Intel CPUs dating back as far as the 1st Generation Core i series (think i7-920, i3-550 etc., nahalem, westmere), could mean that hackers could gain access to (they won't be able to as soon as this is patched in the next week, via a kernal page table isolation update) privileged information via a security check exploit where apparently (we won't find out 100% until Jan 9th) the Intel core i and associated xeon chips were made with performance gains in mind at the expensive of security. This is said that once it's patched it could spell performance hits from anywhere from 5% to 30%, though users with the patched Linux systems have reported drops of even more than the 30%, though gamer's and main rig productivity users seem to be unaffected. *Edit this is one of three variants identified as Meltdown, I will cover the other two in another video, will also test performance numbers for you guys. AMD CPUs on the other hand are supposedly not affected one bit (all pun intended) by this security flaw in the OS Kernel. Also in this video I explain as best I can what is going on and what in basic function the kernel in the operating system does. And to further complicate things the CEO of Intel has apparently sold off as much stock as possible. So who knows what will go on from here, but looks like some more 'interesting' times ahead. The BEST Small Computer? Meet The Asrock DeskMini 110

05:16
Here is the Asrock Desk Mini 110 Review - a solution that allows you to put in a desktop skylake CPU, laptop memory and also 2 drives, and or 2 m.2 drives and have one little box that is quite powerful. If you want to use it for streaming, perfect, home threatre? Got that covered too (though I would of liked to have seen an optical in), and even gaming if you don't mind the Intel HD 530 Graphics (that was on my G4500 Pentium), it played League of Legends, CS:GO and Dota 2 (this was a blend of high/med, not max sorry) at good frame rates at 1080p. The box also has a lower power draw and can be used as a small server too. The applications are numerous, and the best thing is, it is pretty damn cheap (comes in cheaper than an Intel NUC) for what it is! Highly recommended! Australia's NBN Internet Network & It's Problems Explained Ft. The D-Link DSL-5300

11:49
I recently just got hooked up to the Australian NBN (National Broadband Network), and well it's 2018.... and it's quite bad compared to the rest of world and what speed's they have, this is mainly due to the fact that corner's were cut and costs money was saved to the point where the it will end up costing the government more in the long run to fix the whole mess, and in the mean time the average citizen suffers poorer internet speeds. Though what problems could you be facing? And what solutions are available for them? Well detailed in this video is 4 big problems and what can be done about it. Also D-Link sent out their new Cobra DSL-5300 which I took at a look at it and was pretty solid, though the modem itself is very expensive, so it is more of a luxury modem. DELIDDING The i7-7700k - How much of a Difference is there?

05:13
*Note*: For Kaby Lake I only recommend using a specialised delid tool since the PCB is so thin (almost as light as a feather), doing other methods may result in premature CPU death. After a Delid I could get a further 200mhz out of my CPU and also 20 degrees lower temperatures, this is in 33 degree ambient temperatures too, can't wait for winter to rock around, might be able to get the cpu to 5.2 stable, boot at 5.3 :D. Correction: The kit only cost me $14 AUD, about $11 USD? Do You Even NEED Thermal Paste? Arctic MX-4 Vs Toothpaste Vs Mayonnaise Vs Vegemite Vs....

04:49
A big question I have asked myself for a while is "do you even need thermal paste?" and can you just use some oil for example to get good temps? Today I answer that by testing all your typical sauces and exotics like Mayonnaise, Tomato Sauce (ketchup), Tooth Paste, NOTHING (which is a big request from a lot of people with just bare metal on bare metal) and lasty a special guest Vegemite! Overall the Tomato Sauce won out of the household sauces and spreads and came within ONE degree of the Arctic MX-4 (at same ambient temps and volts).... which means that this stuff would perform better than some actual thermal pastes out there, which is quite sad to be honest, but at least MX4 does its job and thats a good thing to rest on! Also the long term hygienic effects are something that would make one wonder if it is ok to use this stuff, but honestly the chicken which had bits of food in there etc, would do a bit better if I had just put a dab of baby oil in the middle of the heat sink and that would honestly be good to go. However something to take out of this video is that bare metal on bare metal (no thermal paste) is a pretty bad idea, so use something instead of nothing. The specs of the rig and testing conditions are as follows: 5820K @ 4.0ghz @ 1.12v (I kept it a little low as I had no idea what the outcome of this experiment would be) Asrock X99 Fatality Enermax T40 with One Fan on Standard profile. AIDA 64 Loaded for Tens minutes at 18 degrees ambient (I think chicken had an ambient at 17degrees). Crucial MX300 750GB SSD Review - Marvel the Marvell Controller

04:09
I recently got Crucial's MX300 750GB model in for review and when testing it and also examining it, I was pleased to see that not only did it contain my favourite controller onboard but that said controller (of course Marvel), performed very well in the benchmarks. The interesting thing about this drive is it uses a combination of SLC based memory for caching, (i.e. the part that will get worked the most) and TLC 3d nand based for the mass storage option, this in turn helps bring down the cost of the drive, but at the same time giving the end user a very balanced and still consistent work horse for whatever applications they need it for. Also when I talk about gaming I am referring to of course loading levels and the initial game itself and getting consistently fast loads, which shouldn't affect the majority of games / gamers, but it can still make for turning a decent experience into an amazing one (think MMO's and games with at times large loads - GTA 5 for example). You can get the Crucial SSD here: USA - http://amzn.to/2aEiHmE Aus - https://www.mwave.com.au/product/crucial-mx300-750gb-25-sata3-6gbps-7mm-ssd-ct750mx300ssd1-ab83679 UK - http://amzn.to/2b1iA5I Canada - http://amzn.to/2aQpf4W ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ►Support TYC for free when you shop on Amazon in the US of A! http://amzn.to/1kZUX1z ►►Support the channel for free when you shop on Amazon in the UK◄◄ http://amzn.to/1jr01dR ►Buy PC Games at massively discounted prices!◄ http://www.cdkeys.com/?mw_aref=techyescity ►Check me out on twitter◄ https://twitter.com/techyescity ►►Check me out on facebook◄◄ https://www.facebook.com/techyescity ►Doing this gig (and keeping it 100% real) is hard... support TYC directly with a monthly donation.◄ http://www.patreon.com/techyescity ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Music Provided by epidemicsound.com

HDD Vs. SSD Vs. NVMe M.2 - Does a NVMe Drive Help Boot Times?

04:35
Today I perform a heap of real world benchmarks (like booting Windows 10, launching Battlefield 1), where I start testing a hard drive vs a ssd vs a nvme m.2 to see what the differences are between these three choices of disk drives, I have a WD 3TB Blue (5400RPM, and yes a 7200RPM will be faster, but not by whole lot to make these benchmarks different) Vs A SSD Vs. a NVMe M.2. Even though the synthetics showed a massive difference, the boot times of games and also the OS showed virtually no difference, and it was here that I thought that most people are not going to really benefit from going from an SSD to an NVMe drive, unless of course they are trying to save time on productitivty workflow (like Adobe Premiere Pro for example). **Note - There are different types of m.2 drives, m.2 drives that work via pcie and m.2 drives that function like a standard sata 3, and if they are the latter than they will be capped at 6gb/s and cheaper (roughly 550MB/s real world). Be mindful of this when purchasing an m.2. Though of course there is a big difference between a sata 3 SSD and the HDD, and although you won't gain FPS in games, you will save a lot of time and you can eliminate some stuttering if your HDD is busy in the background. Here are some cheap options for SSDs if you want to use them as a boot drive (the 4k reads are much faster, which is very important for speeding up everyday use). Seagate's New 10TB Ironwolf Pro, FireCuda SSHD & Barracuda Drives | Are they ANY Good?

05:55
Today I am reviewing the Ironwolf pro 10TB drives, Firecuda SSHD 2TB Drive & 7200rpm Barracuda drives from Seagate, and honestly all these drives had really good consistency on their read and write performance, even in when gaming with solid frame times in dota 2 as well. The Ironwolf pros are very solid with the write speeds being surprisingly much higher on the 4k random writes than most hard drives I have seen, and with their vibration control and solid performance in raid 1, make them an easy recommendation for the NAS market. The SSHD Firecuda... really good drive, includes a 5 year warranty, which for the price is insane, you get the 8GB MLC portion as well which does a really good job of loading up consistently used programs quite fast. And lastly is their Barracuda line which includes a 2 year warranty and is your standard 7200rpm drive that performs well in the benchmarks for its budget price. **US:** Get the FireCuda 2TB Here: http://amzn.to/2qLOtKG Get the Ironwolf Pro Here: http://amzn.to/2qLYpUx Get the Barracuda 1TB for budget builds here: http://amzn.to/2qLBNmW **Aus:** (Order from Amazon above, best prices) **UK:** Check out www.overclockers.co.uk for awesome prices or use amazon links here: 2TB firecuda - http://amzn.to/2qmFLBf Ironwolf pro 10TB: http://amzn.to/2qmEPgx Barracuda 1TB: http://amzn.to/2pEUfO3 *Check out my Video Editing PC - http://amzn.to/2oFKlrb ►Join our Forums for Discussion - www.techcity.tv/forum ►Shop on Amazon and Support Tech City for Free USA - http://amzn.to/1kZUX1z UK - http://amzn.to/1jr01dR CA - http://amzn.to/2gB4ehH ►www.facebook.com/techcitypc ►www.twitter.com/techcitypc ►www.instagram.com/techyescity ►Like the Content? Which Mechanical Keyboard Should I Get For Gaming? Blues Vs Browns Vs Reds (+Clears/Greens/Blacks)

13:35
Find a Cheap Mechanical Keyboard Here - http://amzn.to/2gyZuc1 I have been asked a lot about "which mechanical keyboard should I get? Should I get red, blue or brown?". SO I thought I would make a mechanical keyboard buyers guide. In this video I sum up the advantages and disadvantages of Blues Vs Browns Vs Reds Vs Clears Vs Greens Vs Blacks (I know there is a lot of them right). Overall though there are the 3 base switches and they are Blues / Reds and Browns, the blues have 2 levels of feedback, the browns 1 level and the reds none (a straight linear switch). The blacks are the same as the reds but heavier and more unique in regards to the bottoming out. The Greens I found were pretty heavy, so if you are thinking about this switch then I think you should certainly try it before buying it. The clears were a heavier Brown and I really did love these, after blues (my favourite) these would be my second favourite. Also what about the KailH Vs CherryMX switches? The KailH switches are also legit, upon trying these I literally couldn't tell the difference between these and a cherry... Also razer have their green switches (higher blues) and they are pretty legit also IMO. If you have any questions then leave a comment below. But for the pure best response times, then red and blacks are the best in my opinion, though keep in mind all mechanical keyboards will be pretty good for gaming, and I found browns and blues were very good double tapping. The Neglected Accelero Vs. the Windforce GPU Cooler - 21 Degrees Later...

I have never done a GPU Cooler comparison before, so I though it would be cool to compare Arctic Cooling's Accelero 3x Solution head to head with Gigabyte's Windforce 3x on a 980ti. Arctic Accelero $70 (Actually DAMN good for that price) - http://amzn.to/2cCcZaD Version 3 (one used in this video) for only $57! - http://amzn.to/2cZeITW How I acquired this cooler was an interesting story which you can see in this video here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45UBDtqEONM And I am really glad I got a hold of this cooler, it what my GPUs (and myself as an air cooling buff) have been missing in our lives... seriously this thing cools better than AIOs and I will be putting it head to head with a decent *wink wink* upcoming custom water cooling solution. I also did some gaming on this as well with DOOM, and the Accelero didn't top 48degreess... though the windforce hit 70.... Is this the BEST Smartphone EVER?? Meet the Huawei Mate 10 (Review)

10:03
After using Huawei phones for years now, I have grown accustomed to just staying loyal to what I think is quite simply the best, and today we have their sister flagship phone - The Mate 10 up for review (a slight step behind the mate 10 pro, but with it's own benefits, which makes me prefer it). And we will be putting it through it's paces with test photos, 4k video at 30 fps, macro shooting, selfie cam test, digital zoom test, gaming benchmarks, specs and also everything included in the box. I also talk about what I like and don't like about the phone. However just like other Huawei phones I have used before this one - it just retains that winning formula of not slowing down, having a great user interface (now based on Android 8.0 OREO update) and being able to task much more efficiently than ever before with it's lightning Kirin 970 8 core CPU and 12 Core GPU. Philips SHP9500 Headphone Review - How good are these $50 Cans?

06:07
It seemed that every forum I went to people were recommending the SHP9500s as one of the best value for money headphones around, upon purchasing them and trying them out for myself, I quickly came to this conclusion as well. However I found that people were stating these to be as good as the Philips Fidelio X1s, and honestly they are not quite up to par vs the fidelio X1s, and there are a few other problems that I found with these headphones, mainly the insane sweat production / absortion as well. The sound itself however is really good and I think people will appreciate these headphones, especially if coupling them with something like a vmoda boompro, for me however I am still going to be rocking my Fidelio L1s, which I consider the balance kings (though they are a little more expensive). Pre-rendered Frames (Nvidia Control Panel) - What is it? Quick benchmarks of 1 vs 4

03:05
So there is a setting in the Nvidia Control Panel called Pre-rendered frames, what does it do and what should you set it at? If you are like me and you hate input lag then I suggest putting this setting to one, however if a game is glitching with this setting on then I suggest changing it back to the default of use 3d application. It also made a difference in the cinebench openGL test, however YMMV with this setting so be careful. Also my X99S Motherboard has gone out in unspectacular fashion, so I am on the Z87-G45 4670k rig at the moment, am getting a X99-UD4 motherboard in from Gigabyte, so hopefully that works out well, but some of this will certainly make for some juicy discussion. G4560 Vs i3-6100 - How Much Of a Difference is There?

04:40
Today I compare the i3-6100 to the G4560 Pentium to see how much there is between the two in terms of FPS for gamers. In the tests I show apples to apples at low settings on three popular games (Battlefield 1, GTA 5 & Crysis 3 @ low settings) in order to stress the CPUs and give you guys a kind of worst case scenario differential between the two, though when it came to 1080p gaming with an rx470 at high settings the difference was hardly noticeable. All tests were done with the ring ratio 100mhz below max core speed (3500mhz for the pentium g4560, 3700mhz for the i3-6100) & DDR4 memory clocked at 2133mhz @ 13-14-14-36 1T. Asrock DESKMINI GTX 1060 MXM Review - Just HOW SMALL Can it GET?!

07:26
What is the smallest powerful desktop PC? Well Here is the Asrock Deskmini now with a GTX 1060...!? They also apparently have a GTX 1070 and GTX 1080 model too, though for travelling I honestly wouldn't need anymore than the 1060 for 1080p gaming and also that access to those juicy cuda cores. This version of the deskmini also features microstx, which is somewhere between mini itx and micro itx, so it is very small to begin with, and with that you get the option for mount 3 nvme ssd drives and a 6th or 7th gen Intel CPU (6700 or 7700 would be the best option with this in my opinion). You can also mount up to 32GB of SoDimm memory. Though how are the temps and how does it perform? Let's find out! Get the DeskMini 1060 Here (currently only available on newegg I believe): http://www.dpbolvw.net/click-8225788-10440897?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.newegg.com%2FProduct%2FProduct.aspx%3FItem%3DN82E16856158059%26nm_mc%3DAFC-C8Junction%26cm_mmc%3DAFC-C8Junction-_-Barebone%2BSystems%2B-%2BMini%2B%2F%2BBooksize-_-ASRock-_-56158059&cjsku=N82E16856158059 For a $1 a month you can help support the channel directly & gain access to an uncut special monthly live: http://www.patreon.com/techyescity Join our Forums for Discussion: www.techcity.tv/forum Stay up to date with the latest updates here: Twitter - www.twitter.com/techyescity Instagram - www.instagram.com/techyescity Facebook - www.facebook.com/techyescity Google Plus - https://goo.gl/QdZmQF Check out my Video Editing PC Here - http://amzn.to/2oFKlrb ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Music Provided by either: monstercat, chukibeats, epidemicsound, vlognocopyright or bassrebels

Intel Haswell i5-4670k i5-4690k "Sweet Spot" 4.6GHZ Overclock @ MSI Z87-G45 (1.22v)

03:52
Here is the "Sweet Spot" overclock in my opinion for the i5-4670k and most likely the i7-4770k as well. This looks to be my new favorite overclock, a balance between speed and safety. The settings are really easy, just dial in the cores and then change the voltage. I will look into more of the intricate settings that MSI offer on this bios over the next few months, but I do recommend grabbing this motherboard as it looks to be a solid overclocker. I will also add my specs below incase people are wondering: RAM - Elixir 4GB x 4 @ 1866-9-10-9-28 (1.56v) CPU - i5-4670k Motherboard - MSI Z87-G45 Cooler - Scythe Apsalus2-90 SSD - Intel 335 240GB GPU - Galaxy GTX670 OC Edition

NAS Done Easy for $300? QNAP TS251A Review Ft. 10TB IronWolf Drives

Here is a NAS solution that can do so much more, it can stream music and movies, supports Win 10, Linux, Mac and Android Virtualization and can also function as a security surveillance device. It also has an incredibly easy learning curve and also has more complex options for those who want to set it up as such. This is the QNAP TS251a and today I do a review on what is good and bad about this device, though overall it is a good device that will surely serve a lot of people very well with the ability to setup your own drives in JBOD, raid 0 and raid configurations. Corsair Force MP500 Review - Is it any good?

04:37
Corsair is entering the m.2 nvme market which is starting to become very popular since m.2 slots are coming on the majority of new motherboards out there. And after this testing this drive and running it through my favourite tests it was great to see that this drive had very consistent read and writes, however the advertised speeds on the box did differ from what I tested in the real world. 34" Samsung CF791 QD-LED Monitor Review - What is Quantum Dot LED Technology?

07:43
CF791 on US Amazon: http://amzn.to/2k769fY UK Amazon - http://amzn.to/2j89jQQ CF791 from Dream Seller (International): http://ebay.to/2k4wpXI Euro - http://ebay.to/2jANtl4 Aus - http://ebay.to/2kwCgSH Other Monitors - Microboard monitor ($300 cheaper, standard W-LED backlighting) - http://ebay.to/2k7cWpL Samsung 1080p 24" VA With QDLEDs (much cheaper) - http://amzn.to/2kyJJ80 I purchased mine from dream seller, and if import taxes are expensive in your country then you can always ask for a favor ;). The Samsung CF791 is one of the first PC monitors to bring a new backlighting to the table rather than trash W-LEDs that are going in the majority of our monitors - especially gaming monitors with specs like low input lag, high refresh rates and fast response panels (there is RGB too, but that is usually for business grade monitors and is very expensive and the panels still boast high input lag, low response times etc.). This is the first monitor in this field I know of to have all those previous specs AND finally some good backlighting, which is known as quantum dot LED technology and is photoluminescent. ►Check out the NEW Website here and join the forums - www.techcity.tv ►Shop on Amazon and Support Tech City for Free USA - http://amzn.to/1kZUX1z UK - http://amzn.to/1jr01dR CA - http://amzn.to/2gB4ehH ►Get the latest updates live https://www.facebook.com/techcitypc https://twitter.com/techcitypc ►Like the Content? Corsair Scimitar PRO RGB Review - Yay Or Nay?

03:46
Here is Corsair's latest mouse for MMO/Moba users, though in reality I found it to be a palm gripper's mouse.... with a lot of buttons... like seriously this thing has 12 buttons on the side alone that can be programmed to different buttons in mobas like World of Warcraft for example, and with 4 zone RGB lighting control it makes for one hell of mouse not just in performance but cosmetics too. The build quality is also very solid and the sensor onboard is probably the best I have ever used, the PMW 3367 with DPI adjustments of 1 all the way up to 16000.... It also features Omron switches all round. The only downside is the price, coming in at currently 67 USD or 108 AUD if you are in aus. Though it is a great mouse for palm grip users (I am finger tip gripper, so this wouldn't be my main), this mouse was sent out for review from Corsair too. Oh and it also has extremely good input lag, good as my G302. is 1GB of VRAM ENOUGH for PC Gaming in 2017...!?

04:52
Here is the extremely cheap (sub $50) HD 6950 that I bought yesterday on Gammtre, and it has only 1GB of VRAM, so I wanted to test it in a variety of titles (PuBG, Dota 2, CS:GO & Overwatch) at 1080p and 720p to see how it fares... and the results are... interesting :). Look for a cheap HD6950 here: http://ebay.to/2woVx2H Get a budget 660ti here: http://ebay.to/2tFZw4R or a HD7870: http://ebay.to/2uXl3M4 Enjoy the Content? How to Test your Computer Power Supply By Itself - (Test if PSU is DOA)

03:35
This is just a quick tutorial on how you can test your PSU to see if it is DOA and also to see if it is healthy. In my case I installed my PSU and it started for a split second and I knew something was wrong so I decided to test it by inserting a wire into the 4th wire (green) from the right and ground it to the black wire next to it and not to my surprise it started for a split second here as well and then went flat dead. If you have any questions please let me know and also don't forget to be VERY CAREFUL when handling a PSU (especially if you have turned it on before).
