Beijing's Sanyuan Bridge to Be Retrofitted within 43 Hours

The refurbishment of Beijing's Sanyuan Bridge, or Sanyuanqiao started at 11p.m. on Nov. 13, 2015. The whole reconstruction process completed within 43 hours. Over 1300 tons of new surfacing for the bridge have been transported to the construction site to replace the old surface. Sanyuan Bridge is a major overpass on the northeastern stretch of the 3rd Ring Road of Beijing. The Airport Expressway, Jingshun Road (China National Highway 101) and the 3rd Ring Road are interlinked by the vital overpass. New technology in China turns desert into land rich with crops

Drawing a roadmap to combat the spread of deserts worldwide. It’s the mission of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification in the Inner Mongolian city of Erdos. The host country, China, was praised for a law it passed in 2002 -- the world's first integrated law dedicated to combating desert expansion. April 25th is the first anniversary of the worst earthquake in Nepal’s history. Led by the prime minister, the nation is remembering the nearly 9,000 victims of the 7.8 magnitude quake. A ceremony was held at the ruins of the historic Dharahara Tower in Kathmandu. For many, it’s been a lost year without much to see for the $4 billion in aid pledged by foreign donors. Tourism, which previously accounted for nine percent of the national economy, has not recovered. China promised to give its full support to the reconstruction of Nepal after last year’s earthquakes. Correspondent Mike Kirsch reports from California on the growing debacle of student debt. A staggering 40 million students are in debt or have defaulted on their college loans in the United States. How much debt? Almost one and a half trillion dollars’ worth. And yet unlike failing Wall Street banks who declared bankruptcy during the 2008 recession, college students today are not offered this same kind of relief. Among those defaulting are thousands of students from Latin American countries who say the American Dream has plunged them into life-crushing debt.
