Obviously, there are more than ten inventions from Soviet Union as well as Russian Empire era. Subscribe us: ▶ YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/Engineering8 ▶ Our Tweets: https://twitter.com/YT_Engineering8 ▶ Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/Engineering8Channel ▶ Tumblr: http://engineering8.tumblr.com/ ▶ Google+ page: https://goo.gl/upGvEV Here are ten great Soviet Union engineering facts: 10. VA-111 Shkval (ВА-111 «Шквал») introduced in 1970s, it is the first torpedo to use supercavitation which helps it to cruise at speed of 230 mph (370 km/h). 9. Orbita (орбита) First ever national satellite television system in the world by utilizing Mulniya satellites. Successfully tested in 1962 using Orbita satellite. However, it was full operational in 1967. 8. Nuclear-powered icebreaker (Атомный ледокол) The best kind of icebreaker. Effectively better than diesel counterpart due to lightweight. USSR/Russia are the only place produced it. 7. Antonov An-225 Mriya (Антонов Ан-225 Мрія) The longest and the heaviest airplane ever made. Initially built to piggyback Buran, Soviet answers to USA's space shuttle. However, Buran remains a prototype and now after USSR ended, this 6 turbofan engine use for carrying oversize payloads around the world. 5. Sputnik 1(Спутник-1) First ever artificial satellite. Launched from Boikonur Cosmodrome into low Earth orbit on October 4th, 1957. This success launch created panic in USA called 'Sputnik Crisis' which also triggered Space Race. 4. Vostok 1(Восток-1) Another event that panicked USA and its allies. Soviet managed to send its astronaut into space: Yuri Gagarin on Vostok-1 on 12th April 1961. 3. RD series rocket engine (Ракетный Двигатель) Developed during 1960s, multi-staged rocket burning system beat any US-made in terms of energy efficiency. Due to this fact, after USSR, few engine models such as RD-170 and RD-180 are used in many NASA rocket such as Atlas. 2. Ilizarov apparatus (Компрессионно-дистракционный аппарат) used in orthopedic surgery to lengthen or reshape limb bones. In 1971, Ilizarov Center was purposely established for orthopedic and become the world largest orthopedic medical research center. 1. Ostankino Tower (Останкинская телебашня) In 1960s, Soviet government found themselves in need of broadcasting system in the middle of Moscow. Since the nearest mountain/hill is 300 miles away, they decided to construct 1,772 feet (540.1 m) high television and observation tower in Ostankino. The tower became the tallest tower in the world between 1967 to 1975. 10 Cities with most Skyscrapers

Which skylines has the highest counts of buildings taller than 492 feet in year 2017? Subscribe us: ▶ YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/Engineering8 ▶ Our Tweets: https://twitter.com/YT_Engineering8 ▶ Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/Engineering8Channel ▶ Tumblr: http://engineering8.tumblr.com/ ▶ Google+ page: https://goo.gl/upGvEV Ten world skylines with lots of buildings higher than 150 meter or 492 feet: 10. Singapore It is very hard to draw a border when the whole island is called Singapore. There are few cities with more skyscraper counts but considered less than Singapore due to this advantage. 9. Guangzhou, China The city that attract wholesalers around the globe to get their supplies of china-made goods. When this video is published, it has as many as 101 skyscrapers with CTF Finance Centre lead the height in the city. 8. Chongqing, China It's amazing despite located in the middle of China, it could surpass much well-known Guangzhou in terms of skyscraper counts albeit only by four. But it still lost to Guangzhou on city's tallest building height. 7. Shenzhen, China Guangzhou nearest sister which located 30-minutes travel in high-speed train. With so many supertalls, it highest building, Ping An Finance Center almost become city's first megatall but too bad the spire is not allowed to be installed. 6. Chicago, Unites States Along with New York City, these was a area of skyscrapers in 20th century. Although no longer as hot as Asia skylines, its well-maintained and arranged buildings a lot more pleasant than some bigger city skylines. 5. Shanghai, China If you ever look at comparison between Shanghai especially Pudong area today and 30 years ago. It's so astonishing how much China has grown once Deng Xiaoping made economic reform. 4. Tokyo, Japan In legal term, Tokyo is actually megalopolis that hold several cities inside them. However since it is much simpler to recognize Tokyo to foreigners than let's say Minato or Koto, so Tokyo have same advantage as Singapore. 3. Dubai, United Arab Emirates Dubai may be 'only in third place in contest for building higher than 150 meters, but for a minimum 300 meters category, building count is off the chart! 2. New York City, United States Poor old World Trade Center,a twin-ish towers that was terrorized and collapsed along with WTC7. Anyway, it remains America's best manifestation of capitalism in western hemisphere lead by 11 Freedom Tower also known as World Trade Center One. 1. Hong Kong, China Thanks for being isolated from China PRC, along with other Asian tigers, it's economy flourished and 317 skyscrapers its a proof of that. MCUs produced called Atmega families which consists of various 8-bit, 16-bit and 32-bit MCU models produced by Atmel. Very popular among hobbyists and became even popular as Arduino solutions launched. Still, as popular as it is, Atmel eventually acquired by Microchip Inc., their nemesis as how fans from both parties portrayed about it. Wuxi, China The city in Jiangsu province, just 45 minutes from Shanghai by high-speed train. Albeit being in the shadow of its neighbor, that does not hinder its growth to come up with three supertalls built in 10 years span. =10. Nanjing, China The main landmark, Zifeng Tower was once within 10 world's highest buildings become a symbol of Nanjing rapid progress despite its dark history 80 years ago. =10. Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia After completion of TM Tower in 2001, Kuala Lumpur stuck with 3 supertalls along with Petronas Towers until now. But 1 supertall (Four Seasons Place) soon will be included as well as 1 megatall (KL118). =8. Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE) Although lose badly to its brother in skyscraper race, Abu Dhabi still managed to sit on eighth place on the world stage. No bad at all. =8. Shanghai, China Too bad the Shanghai Tower is considered a megatall (over 600 meters high), well at least it would share position with Moscow but yeah. Its difficult for new development since most lands in the city center already developed. 7. Moscow, Russia The only representative from Europe, Moscow take a very different path from its west neighbors by easily approving supertall skyscrapers in the city center. That also means Moscow dominating 10 tallest buildings in Europe. =4. Chicago, United States (USA) Chicago together with New York City flourished through 20th century with world's tallest building title stayed in America for at least one decade. Sears (now Willis) Tower was the historically Earth's tallest for 24 years. =4. Shenzhen, China 30 years ago, Shenzhen was mere small town compared to Hong Kong, but now both are equal if not surpassed economically, the same thing happened in terms of city's supertalls counts. =4. Hong Kong, China The city with most skyscrapers on Earth would be odd not to have one in the list. So a century of fast-paced growth yielded a combination of new (International Commerce Centre) and old supertalls (Bank of China). 3. New York City, United States (USA) Together with Hong Kong Island, Manhattan are two most developed islands in the world. Land scarcity force mayors and developers to build vertically for space that sparks innovations along the way such as elevators, escalators, as well as metro system to handle high traffic commuters. 2. Guangzhou, China Eight supertalls in Guangzhou sitting close to each other. If that is not enough, Canton Tower at 600 meters high located just across the Pearl River with horizontal Ferris wheel operated one level above observation deck. 1. Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) 18 supertalls, yep you heard it right, and increasing—fast. These supertalls are mostly group together in two places as shown in video. the one batch located near the Dubai Marina and the other are along Sheikh Zayed Road. The one near Dubai Marina are mostly luxury apartments with penthouses one of the most expensive in the world. 10 Fastest Trains in the World | Max speed 603 km/h (375 mph)

05:54
Japan fastest maglev train, L0 Series is clear winner with speed of 603 km/h albeit not been commercialized — yet. And looks like the rank of 10 world's fastest trains in 2018 remains unchanged. Subscribe us: ▶ YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/Engineering8 ▶ Our Tweets: https://twitter.com/YT_Engineering8 ▶ Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/Engineering8Channel ▶ Tumblr: http://engineering8.tumblr.com/ ▶ Google+ page: https://goo.gl/upGvEV Tenth place, 300X. 300X or Class 955 is the Shinkansen trial model introduced in 1992. Six total units were produced by four different vendors with little variations among them. In July 1996, unit 6 which is the last unit managed to clock a staggering 443 km/h (275 mph) in test-running and became Shinkansen’s fastest train record even now. Nineth place, Transrapid 07; Germany's transrapid development began in 1969. 19 years later, the seventh generation model registered maximum cruising of 450 km/h (280 mph) along one-year-old Emsland test-run facility. Until today, it remains the fastest rail record in Germany. Eighth place, CRH380A. China relied on foreign trains for their first generation fleet. However, they have craziest long rail viaduct all over. In early 2008, a development of homegrown high-speed trains began with a target of commercial speed of 380 km/h. On December 3rd, 2010; the train reached 486.1 km/h (302 mph) during 220 km test-run. Seventh place, CRH380BL. Derived from Germany's Siemens Velaro, 100 units of CRH380BL were built locally by China Northern Railways Company. During a subsequent test on January 10th, 2011; these trainsets broke China’s own record of 487.3 km/h (303 mph); that’s about 1.2 km/h faster. Sixth place, Transrapid SMT. The only commercial version of Transrapid train began its operation between Shanghai International Airport and Longyang Road Station with travel distance of 30 km. Albeit able to reach 501 km/h (311 mph), the daily operating speed is capped at 431 km/h (268 mph) which was already the fastest commercial speed during that time. Fifth place, TGV Atlantique. TGV Atlantique is the 2nd TGV model introduced by Alstrom in 1989 for France high-speed rail service. On 18th May, TGV Atlantique trainset 308 cruised along LGV Atlantique railway line with peak of 515.3 km/h (320 mph). It was the fastest commercial train model on the planet. Forth place, ML-500. Miyazaki test track was built at the length of 7 km with monorail track upon opening in 1977, but changed to U-shape in late 1980. The first trial train model, ML-500, was built specifically to become the first ever train to break 500km/h (311 mph) speed mark. Third Place, TGV POS. A series of test runs were conducted on the LGV Est prior to its June 2007 opening using a specially modified train. On April 3rd 2007, top speed of 574.8 km/h (357 mph) was reached, making it the fastest wheeled train on the planet. Second Place, MLX01. Yamanashi test track is the third generation track specifically for testing maglev train at the length of 43 km. Upon its completion, MLX01 trains were introduced in 1997. In 2003, the train clocked at crazy 581 km/h (361 mph). First Place, L0 Series. When the MLX01 service was terminated in 2011, JR Central, the body which governs Japan research in train introduced a new train model called L0 Series. L0 Series was shown to public in November 2012. On April 21st, 2015; a seven-car train set a new land speed record for rail vehicles at bizarre 603 km/h (375 mph). It is the only rail vehicle ever surpassed 600 speed mark. Busiest airport by aircraft traffic and passenger traffic: Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Georgia, USA. Been busiest airport on the planet since 1998 due to being hub for Delta Airline and its partner and subsidiaries, which mainly serving domestic market. USA as a nation lack of high-speed railway and most populous high-income nation is a main factor of high airborne traffic. CC-BY by Peter Kaminski, https://goo.gl/eFRsLt 2. Largest airport terminal and highest international passenger traffic: Dubai International Airport, UAE Located between Europe and Asia, it become tourists and bussines people choices as transit hub thru Emirates airline that makes this airport as its major hub. Dubai airport also took seriously when handling their high traffic passenger by making a largest airport terminal in the world that commisioned in 2008. Busiest airport by cargo traffic: Hong Kong International Airport, HK SAR Hong Kong lost to Singapore and China as busiest maritime port a long time ago. However, they're still the busiest in air cargo—about 4,422,227 tonnes handled in 2015. Besides, this airport completes with Incheon and Changi as annual world best airport by Skytrax. 4. Largest airport by area: King Fahd International Airport, Dammam, Saudi Arabia Believe it or not, although the developed airport area is about 9,080 acres; the whole property as big as 192,000 acres, which is more than nine times of Manhattan. Talking about insanity. by Tomey_Alqatri, https://goo.gl/5z83EA 5. Highest altitude airport: Daocheng Yading Airport, Tibet, China Commissioned in September 2013 and immediately replacing Qamdo Bamda as new highest elevated airport in the world at 4,411 meter (14,472 feet). Its terminal looks like flying saucer by the way. 6. Lowest altitude airport: Bar Yehuda Airfield, Israel Located next to dead sea means it is the lowest elevated airport on earth albeit it is more like an airstrip than fully facilitated airport. by Yan Kamintzky, https://goo.gl/3jodAF 7. Tallest air traffic control (ATC) tower: Suvarnabhumi International Airport, Bangkok, Thailand Start operating in 2005, Suvarnabumi replacing an aging Don Mueang as Thailand's capital airport. Besides its modern design, the ATC tower height beaten its southern neighbor Kuala Lumpur International Airport ATC by only 2.2 meter (8 feet) at 132.2 meter (434 feet). Longest runway: Qamdo Bamda Airport, Tibet, China Located at more than 14,000 feet above sea level, the thin atmosphere requires aircraft to have higher takeoff speed for sufficient lift force. That's why the 5,500 meter (18,045 ft) long runaway is necessary, which is the longest runaway in the world by the way. 9. Shortest runway: Juancho E. Yrausquin Airport, Saba Island, Netherlands Located in volcanic carribean island, flat terrain is very limited. Hence an extreme 400 meter (1,312 ft) runaway with sea at both end of track. Doesn't really matter though because STOL class airplanes and helicopters would be suffice for serving remote island for tourism industry.
