Avv. Valerio Pandolfini

#AskGaryVee Episode 62: Franchising, Open Courses & Cash or Exposure
#QOTD Part 1: Give me your feedback, are you excited about instagram bringing a visual element to the show? Part 2: Are you going to submit a question via instagram? #TIMESTAMPS 01:49 - What is your view on franchising your company when you can’t be sure if others will care for the brand in the same way? 03:59 - What are your practical #HustleHacks when it comes to diet, sleep, and your daily routine? How do you maintain energy and brainpower while hustling non-stop 06:02 - I am growing my business and looking to include partners for content. What’s the best way to recruit them? Money/promise of exposure? 09:35 - I feel as though online courses are usurping traditional education in a big way. Do you see this happening? and is there money to be made? 10:53 - As an artist I find it difficult to apply much of the business advice that’s out there. How would you advise the artists, craftsmen and makers like myself who will never fit any corporate mold? If you are building a consumer facing business, like a restaurant for example, then a franchise is a great thing to do. But, something to ask is—are you trying to franchise your name? A lot of people have tried to franchise me. Yeah. Me. As in Garyvee. I got so many pitches when “Crush It” came out in 2010. People wanted to build courses that they would teach, but it would syphon up to me. That was something I wasn't comfortable with because I don’t feel like it represented me. I wouldn't want to franchise that route. So if you're asking me about franchising yourself, I'm going to say no. Having other people represent "you", to scale your "brand" as a franchise, just doesn't make sense any more. With YouTube and all the other forms of social media available, you just don't need it. BUT let's say you're franchising your restaurant or retail business. If that is the case, I am comfortable saying: go for it. You can make suer your brand is ensured with lots of rules, lots of legal jargon and intense training. Whatever you need to do to scale that, do it. It might be tough, but it will be worth it to keep the core values of your business intact. -- Gary Vaynerchuk is a New York Times and Wall Street Journal Best-Selling author, self-taught wine expert, and innovative entrepreneur. Millennial Franchising Millionaires
When we get calls from millennials they never ask about Subway, 7-11, Gas Stations or Quiznos! Not once. And I attribute that to the fact millennials are much better at researching online and have already discovered why they don't want to own any of those. They quickly compare the data on those franchises, aren't happy and they want more. Millennials ask more about emerging franchises, about unique franchises. They are much more open to exploring things outside the box. Which is great for them because there are so many really lucrative and fun franchises to open. Conversely almost half the calls we get from people in their 40's and up are asking about Subway, 7-11 and Gas Stations, which would be fine if anyone knew why they wanted to own one! But when I ask people why they want to own these franchises I have yet to hear a good answer. They don't know the earnings, the failure rates, the franchisee satisfaction rates and they don't do any comparative research. I've done videos on that before on how a 7-11 owner has a franchise right across the street literally making 10 times more than he is and he had no idea because he didnt do research or speak to anyone else. Millennials are great at research and even before they call us they usually have enough data that we can get right into a high level conversation regarding the pros and cons of franchises. Which takes us to our first Millennial story Dylan Patel. Dylan started his franchise empire as a freshman still in college. He didnt want a Subway - in fact he did a ton of research and ended up opening up a fitness franchise - Orangetheory fitness. Now Orangetheory is a fairly expensive franchise investment costing about $500-$900K but Dylan took out some loans and his family helped him get started. Just as a side note we work with fitness franchises that can be started for under $100K give us a call if you would like to learn more. (sorry I cant help myself) Now despite Dylan still being in college he has opened two more Orangetheory locations and also opened a Hand and Stone Massage and facial Spa franchise as you can see here in the picture. We work with Hand and Stone and do like the business model. Dylan has just opened and has 100 clients already in his first two weeks. Now this is how you build a business empire. Could Dylan have done this with a 7-11 store? No because he would have had to be working in one store as a requirement of the franchise. These newer franchises allow the flexibility and operational model for an owner to be semi absentee and the business still operates effectively. There is also sufficient revenue that you can pay managers to run the business so Dylan just oversees the franchises between classes and after school. Great example of making strong, educated decisions in franchising and we wish Dylan continued success. Another couple of millennial who have entered the franchising world are Andrea and Jessica Perez, two sisters from San Antonio who with the help of family bought a struggling Wing Zone and have already turned the business around and are grossing $170,000 a month. Now just for the record Wing Zone franchise is not one of our top choices but if they got a bargain and work the business properly as it appears they are doing they will likely continue to see success. So there you have it - just two stories of how Millenials are breaking into the world of franchising. An interesting statistic before we go - according to FRANdata 9% of all franchise owners are actually Millennial and that number is sure to climb as us old folks begin to retire. Like and subscribe and leave all your franchise questions down below. Thanks for watching.

Disadvantages of Franchising
What are the disadvantages that someone is likely to face by taking a franchise? The following are the disadvantages of taking up a franchise as it is like that the differences arise between the franchisor and franchisee regarding specific formal and informal commitments that are not implemented. Few of these are - Right and the only way of getting the things done: The freedom of the franchise is limited. The franchisor tries to exert exaggerated levels of control. The owner of the franchise is likely to feel that their freedom is lost their freedom to innovate is reduced. - Continuing cost implication: Apart from the fee and royalties paid, the franchise should continously share the revenue with the franchisor. In addition to this the franchisor charges for the services like advertising and training. The more reputed is the franchisor, the more are these costs. - Risk of franchisor getting bought: The franchisee suffers problems, losses and difficulties when the franchisor fails or if the franchisor is bought out by another business. - Inability to provide services: When the franchisor is unable to provided services as advertised the franchisee will go into a risky situation as the required support to run the business is not available. Starting a business from scratch can be a risk many entrepreneurs like to dream about but aren’t will to take. Considering the failure rates of small businesses in America, it is easy to see why? According to the U.S. Small Business Administration only 33% of all small businesses succeed past their 10th anniversary. Lack of planning, poor management, insufficient capital and failure to define the target market are the main reasons why businesses fail. Conversely a reputable franchise business model offers the entrepreneur the following three compelling reasons that a start-up business does not possess 1. The first compelling reason is an Established Operating System. As a franchisee, one is able to take advantage of established systems that have identified the target market, offer a clear business plan and offer an operating history that has been honed over time. 2. The second compelling reason is Brand Recognition Establishing brand recognition can be an expensive and a difficult task when beginning from scratch. Taking advantage of the recognition that a regional and national brand provides takes a huge weight off the new business owner. 3. And the final compelling reason is Ongoing Support Whether you want to be hands on with day-to-day running of the business or you want to manage the business from afar, ongoing support is a vital aspect that start-ups simply don’t have access to and is significant competitive edge in the market place. No matter what your experience, background or goals are, a strong franchise business model offers significant benefits for the entrepreneur.
