Chinese smartphone makers got more aggressive in carving out market share. So far, they've gained significant ground against the Samsungs and Apples of the world. Huawei's already the fifth biggest phone maker, and it hopes to leapfrog their rivals with their new line of budget smartphones. Chinese smartphone maker Huawei aims to become the world's largest smartphone maker by 2021, ahead of both Apple and Samsung, and the latest market share data suggests it continues to make progress towards that goal. Huawei shipped an estimated 38.4 million smartphones in the June quarter, a 20 percent increase over a year ago, according to research firm Strategy Analytics. By comparison, Apple reported it sold 41 million iPhones in the same period, up nearly 2 percent from 40.4 million iPhones in the year-ago quarter. Huawei's market share rose to an estimated 10.7 percent in the quarter, putting the Chinese company well within striking distance of Apple's estimated 11.4 percent market share in the quarter. Samsung continued to lead the market with a 22.1 percent share of shipments, according to Strategy Analytics. Since 2011, the worldwide smartphone market has been dominated by Apple and Samsung. The elusive third-best spot, meanwhile, has failed to be held down by one vendor for an extended period of time, changing hands between Nokia, BlackBerry, Xiaomi, and Huawei over the past six years. In 2014, it looked like low-priced Chinese vendor Xiaomi had firmly cemented its position as the world's third-largest smartphone maker, but due to a limited retail presence and declining popularity, Huawei is now firmly in the driver's seat. Huawei has been making an aggressive push into several European markets, and it's even testing the North American market after launching its smartphones in Canada in June. Huawei isn't well known in the United States, however, largely because it lacks agreements with Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint. American customers have to resort to retailers such as Best Buy or Walmart, or Huawei's direct sales website, to purchase one of their unlocked smartphones, reducing the brand's visibility in a country where Apple and Samsung reign supreme. If Huawei can find success in Canada, then perhaps it will consider tackling the much larger market south of the border next. Apple reported revenue of $8 billion in Greater China in the June quarter, a 10 percent decrease compared to the year-ago quarter, and some analysts believe that's partly due to the iPhone's declining popularity in the country. iPhone market share in China fell to 9 percent in the first six months of 2017, from a peak of 14 percent in 2015, according to Counterpoint Research. iPhone was only the fifth best selling smartphone in China during the June quarter, behind other Chinese rivals like Oppo and Xiaomi, research firm Canalys said. Apple CEO Tim Cook didn't have much to say on iPhone in China during its post-earnings conference call on Tuesday, but he did comment on the growing popularity of messaging app WeChat, developed by Tencent, in the country. "In terms of WeChat, the way I look at this is, because iOS share is not nearly a majority of the market in China, the fact that a lot of people use that… it makes the switching opportunity even greater," said Cook. "I think that's more the case than the risk that a lot of folks have pointed out." "I see Tencent as one of our biggest and best developers," added Cook, who remains optimistic about China. "They have done a great job of implementing iOS features into their apps, and we are looking forward to working with then even more to build even greater experiences for our mutual users in China." The focus now shifts to the fall, when both Apple and Huawei are expected to unveil new flagship smartphones. Huawei reportedly said its upcoming Mate 10 handset will be able to compete better than ever with the so-called iPhone 8. Visit : https://abancommercials.com

Huawei surpasses Apple for sale of mobile phones in Europe. One of the world's best-known Chinese manufacturers has reason to celebrate today. Huawei has re-sold more phones than Apple in the second quarter of 2017. If we have to talk about Chinese brands that have become famous by their own weight, we can not fail to mention Huawei. The manufacturer of telecommunications equipment has been betting heavily on smartphones for several years. And that shows in the market results, where they reach an enviable presence. To be exact, during 2016 Huawei has narrowly missed Apple in central and eastern Europe. In the first quarter of 2017 Apple recovered the second position thanks to the iPhone 7 Plus. But Huawei has rallied again in the second quarter of the year, putting itself above the apple maker. Huawei is again ahead of Apple in Central and Eastern Europe To be exact, the first quarter of 2017 was dominated by a good iPhone 7 campaign, while Huawei paid to have been too aggressive in late 2016. But Apple's sales have dropped slightly. Enough for the Huawei comeback to top them off, according to a study by Canalys. The market in central and eastern Europe is not doing too well for Apple, in any case. Samsung has a dominant position difficult to override. Huawei's overtaking by the second position relegates to the Cupertino brand to be the third manufacturer. And they are closely followed by Xiaomi (quarters) and Lenovo (fifths). The rest of the market is 33%. Just below you can see a graph of the same signature with the percentages of each brand. The situation in the international market is similar: Huawei is only behind Apple in sales for 3 million units. And both companies have launches ready for September, iPhone 8 and Huawei Mate 10. It will be interesting to see how the market responds to each of them.

It seems that Samsung and Apple are not the only ones aimed at conquering the future smartphone market with a flexible and foldable display terminal, as Huawei is also betting on it, although no one expected them. Huawei CEO Richard Yu has revealed in an exclusive interview with CNET's friends that his company already has a working prototype smartphone with foldable display. But that's not all, since apparently this terminal would also be pure screen. Yu did not offer any further details about the smartphone, as it all said in a brief interview following the presentation of Huawei Mate 10, but his words have been enough to raise the expectation. At the end of the talk, the executive assured that, with the rhythm to which they are going, his current catalog of devices and all those who come in the door, he is certain that there will come a time when they surpass Apple and Samsung. The stage for the fight is fully set, and it seems that the two top leaders of the market have a serious competitor who is growing stronger. The big question now is whether that foldable smartphone will go on sale in 2018.

Information Technology | China’s Huawei to Tap Into U.S. Market With New Mate 9 Smartphone Information Technology | Huawei Technologies Co. of China plans to sell its new high-end flagship phone in the U.S.—a first for the world’s third-largest smartphone maker as the company tries to grab a bigger piece of the premium-handset market. On Thursday, Huawei unveiled the Mate 9, its latest flagship smartphone, with a €699 ($776) price tag in Germany. The company said the new phone will initially be sold in 12 countries in Asia, Europe and the Middle East, and be available in the U.S. later. The U.S. release date is expected to be in January, a person familiar with the matter said. In the U.S., the Mate 9 will likely be sold online, not through carriers, the person added. The launch of the Mate 9 is part of the Chinese technology company’s effort to sell more high-end devices to take on Samsung Electronics Co. and Apple Inc. in the global smartphone market. The new flagship phone comes with Huawei’s own interface software, which uses artificial intelligence to automatically keep applications, photos and videos organized. That feature helps prevent the handset’s speed and performance from slowing, the company said. In April, Huawei launched its high-end P9 smartphone, which features a dual-lens camera. Huawei has set an ambitious goal of becoming the world’s biggest smartphone maker within five years, but it has some catching up to do. It held a 9.3% share of the global smartphone market in the third quarter, behind Samsung’s 20% and Apple’s 13%, according to research firm International Data Corp. As the world’s biggest market for high-end smartphones, the U.S. is crucial for premium-handset makers. But Huawei faces challenges there as its telecommunications-networking equipment has been effectively banned because of security concerns. While Alphabet Inc.’s Google Nexus 6P, manufactured by Huawei, was sold in the U.S. last year, the Chinese company hasn’t released its own flagship model in the U.S. until now. It is an opportune time for the Chinese smartphone vendor: Rival Samsung has been struggling with a global recall of its latest high-end phone, the Galaxy Note 7, after reports that the phones caught fire. Samsung was forced last month to halt shipments of the Note 7 ahead of the peak holiday season.

It seems Chinese telecom equipment manufacturer, Huawei, has finally got a break in the price sensitive smartphone market with its flagship Honor 6 smartphone. Quick specs: 5-inch Full HD display, 445 ppi : 1.3 gHz octa-core Hi Silicon Kirin 920 processor : 3 GB RAM : 16 GB internal memory, up to 64 GB expandable : 13 MP rear camera : 5 MP front camera : Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS : Emotion 2.3 UI : 4G ready : 3100 mAh battery Price: $389 Design: It’s a good looking smartphone. The overall look of the phone seems to be inspired by the older iPhones, however, Huawei has taken care to pay attention to minor detailing. The glass back and plastic sides may give an impression that the device is frail but the third generation Corning Glass protection assures strength. The build quality is good and the device feels solid in hands. Display: Sharp and crisp. The 5-inch Full HD screen does its best. The viewing angles are decent. The display performs well under sunlight as well. Users shouldn’t have any complains with the display quality of the smartphone. Performance: Huawei Honor 6 promises a lot on paper and it even delivers. An octa-core processor with 3 GB RAM is enough to attract any smartphone buyer. But the hardware does a good job in the most demanding situations. I did not encounter any sort of lags. Also, the phone doesn’t heat up much. Software: The device runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system and is sugar-coated with Huawei’s Emotion 2.3 UI. Overall, the experience is good and the UI offers some handy customisations as well. Camera: The 13 MP rear camera is decent if not great. However, there is certain amount of noise in the images even in good lighting conditions. The front 5 MP camera produced surprisingly good results. Overall, it is fast, colours are nearly accurate and average users shouldn’t have much to complain. Storage: The device offers 16 GB of internal storage out of which around 11 GB is available. The memory can be further expanded up to 64 GB via microSD card. Battery: Excellent battery life at this price. The smartphone will easily last up to two days in normal usage. I was using 3G along with WiFi, played few HD games and the device lasted for over 32 hours even at maximum brightness. Battery life is one of the areas that will even impress the power users. Connectivity: The smartphone supports 4G networks. In front of connectivity, I witnessed no issues at all. Verdict: In the $400 range, the Huawei Honor 6 is a good buy. http://bit.ly/RHzuWI Huawei Ascend P1 review by Dialaphone. Chinese manufacturer Huawei is making moves towards the high-end of the smartphone market with its latest mobile phone, a powerful device which offers Android Ice Cream Sandwich along with a high quality camera and Huawei's own 3D user interface. Featuring a 4.3-inch super AMOLED display and dual-core, 1.5GHz processor, the Ascend P1 is quite a departure from the firm's earlier, cut-price devices and could offer some real competition for the likes of Samsung and HTC thanks to some innovative features. Huawei has given users of the Ascend P1 the option to switch between its own user interface and the unaltered version of Ice Cream Sandwich, a unique feature that offers a great deal of choice in how the phone is used. Along with this there are several multimedia features along with Huawei's own Music+ app which uses Dolby sound enhancement on you tracks. So, what were thoughts about the Huawei Ascend P1? Chinese telecom companies Huawei and ZTE release phones, hoping to gain market share of smartphones. For more news and videos visit ☛ http://english.ntdtv.com Follow us on Twitter ☛ http://twitter.com/NTDTelevision Add us on Facebook ☛ http://on.fb.me/s5KV2C The smartphone market has become big business, and several Chinese companies want a piece of the action. At a major mobile communication Conference in Barcelona, two of these companies have made their stand. Here at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, two Chinese mobile communication companies are unveiling their latest smartphones. It's the largest exhibition and conference for the mobile industry in the world, and two Chinese companies, Huawei and ZTE, have their sights on dominating the market. [Ben Wood, Analyst]: "Five years ago, it was Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, Sony Ericsson. Now brands like Huawei, from China are arriving with very, very aggressive ambition. They are saying they want to sell 60 million smartphones this year." Part of Huawei's strategy, as well as their other Chinese rival ZTE, is to sell their smartphones for 15-20 percent cheaper their Western counterparts, while still offering high quality devices. Huawei unveiled its new Ascend D, which runs on Google's Android software. [Frederic Fleurance, Huawei Global Product Marketing Director]: "As soon as you will touch a screen, it will be faster, much much faster. So anything that you will do on looking at videos, gaming, browsing you will have a much faster reaction time in your device." This may mean trouble for companies like Nokia and Blackberry, which are struggling to survive in a market they once dominated.

http://goo.gl/SilbtP Chinese tech giant Huawei has launched a new smartphone; the ascend P7 in a bid to crack the smartphone market in Europe. It's a follow up from the Ascend P6 and Tech Expert Stuart Miles, says this is a sign of Huawei really trying to continue to "turn the pressure up" on the likes of Samsung and Apple. He adds the company's phones "actually perform very well". The Ascend P7 will feature a 13Mp rear camera and an 8Mp snapper at the front - which Stuart says is "ideal for those selfies people like to take". From one smartphone maker to another, Apple's shares are trading above USD 600 for the first time since. Stuart thinks this is "amazing" considering Apple hasn't launched a single product since September. He believes the spike could be prompted by Apple's recent announcement of a a 7-to-1 stock split and buyback expansion. And British supermarket giant Tesco is also launching a smartphone. The decision follows the success of Tesco's own branded Android tablet - the Hudle. Chief executive Philip Clarke has stated that the handset will have specs "on par with the Samsung Galaxy S5". Stuart says he is looking forward to this phone and thinks it has the ability to shake up the lower end of the smartphone market.

Huawei launches high end smartphone into Kenyan market Chinese phone manufacturer Huawei, on Wednesday launched the Mate 10 Lite model into the Kenyan market as the battle for smartphone space in the country intensifies. The launch of Mate 10 Lite in the East African country took place just a few weeks after the manufacturer unveiled the Mate 10 device in Nairobi in partnership with a local dealer. "Following the launch of Mate 10 series into the market, we have received positive feedback on our devices and are delighted to announce today that we now have Mate 10 Lite which will retail at 399 U.S. dollars," Huawei Mobile Kenya Country Director, Derrick Duh stated. "For this reason, we will therefore provide a solution for everyone who would love to have our latest Mate Series," Duh said. The high penetration and growth rate of smartphones in the Kenyan market has accelerated primarily due to the country's strong economic climate and increasing internet and mobile connectivity. According to a study by a local e-commerce company, Jumia, out of the 3.1 million devices sold in Kenya in 2015, over 1.8 million devices were smartphones which represented 58 percent of the units sold. Duh said the phone's design spells out fashion and features eye-catching sleek body with curved edges that are favorable with fashion trendsetters. The gadget features a 3340 mAh battery that lasts over two days, with up to 20 hours talk time and nine hours of video watching. The device is also equipped with a powerful camera that entails two dual-camera modules, one on the rear with a 16 MP and 2 MP sensor set-up, and a selfie snapper with a 13 MP main camera and a secondary 2 MP sensor.
