How does a yearbook at a taxpayer supported school end up with a bomb threat on the USA by a student's name? This is not funny, its a sad reflection of no oversight at Gulen operated charter schools. Sonoran Science Academy also has a school on Davis-Monthan Airforce base this behavior is unacceptable. Glad this family took their children out. https://www.abc15.com/news/region-west-valley/peoria/peoria-school-apologizes-for-most-likely-to-bomb-the-us-yearbook-superlative http://tucson.com/news/local/education/precollegiate/foreigners-fill-ranks-of-local-charter--school-chain/article_dec199db-be3f-5519-be3d-f6ad970db1f8.html https://arizonadailyindependent.com/2016/07/19/gulen-getting-rich-off-arizona-charters/ http://www.empireofdeceit.com http://www.gulencharterschoolsusa.blogspot.com http://www.charterschoolwatchdog.com http://www.charterschoolscandals.blogspot.com

NYC Boot Camp Trains You for America's Hottest Job: Data Scientist Data scientist is the hottest job in America for the second year in a row. So what does a data scientist do and how can you become one? I visited the NYC Data Science Academy in Midtown Manhattan to find out. For starters, data scientists speak a language I can't understand, several of them, actually. But this is the hottest job right now, with 4,600 openings in New York alone and over 37,000 nationwide. The students at the NYC Data Science Academy come from a wide range of backgrounds. Grant Webb was a nuclear physicist at Brookhaven National Lab. Rachel Kogan graduated from Princeton University with a degree in math and traded mortgage-backed securities at Morgan Stanley. Brandy Freitas worked at a nonprofit called Science Club for Girls. Scott Dobbins taught debating to high school students in China. Academy founder Vivian Zhang says the academy teaches students skills needed to hit the ground running on Day 1. That includes the most popular machine learning language and data analytic language, R and Python. The academy also covers Hadoop, Spark, Squel, GitHub, and Linux. All of this happens in a 12-week boot camp that costs $16,000. Chris Neimeth, Vivian's partner at the academy, explained what all of that means. Python, R, Hadoop, and Spark are all open-source languages that people can use to deploy sophisticated solutions for businesses. This year, data scientist topped Glassdoor's list of the best jobs in America for the second year in a row based on its number of openings, job satisfaction, and impressive median base salary of $110,000. Students at the academy often see a salary bump right away. Vivian says she has seen a lot of good outcomes. One student started earning $85,000 just three months after graduating from boot camp. Data scientists analyze information at the big tech companies such as Amazon and Google, banks such as Goldman Sachs, retailers such as Walmart, the magazine business at Condé Nast, and in sports at the NBA. All of those places have job listings in the $100,000 range right now. Chris says that the finance, media, healthcare, and technology industries in New York are very interested in using data and data science to create a competitive advantage for themselves. The academy takes about three dozen students in each boot camp. So what does it take to be a candidate for the boot camp program? Chris says people should be comfortable with math and able to code. Vivian says 80 percent of the students are STEM majors, but the academy also accepts people with non-traditional STEM backgrounds and helps them to achieve their goals. One student was a bartender who was into data and was passionate about learning. Vivian and Chris say he graduated from boot camp and is now a successful data analyst. --ALISON MORRIS http://nycdatascience.com/

String of Gulen Schools throughout the USA students were arrested for threats . http://www.gulencharterschoolsusa.blogspot.com http://www.empireofdeceit.com Portman knows it was most likely nothing. But due to recent events, those are the places your mind can’t help but go. A few days earlier, East Central had been the latest in a string of Tulsa-area schools to have a social media threat directed against it. Originally issued last Sunday evening, the threat resulted on Tuesday in the arrests of a 17-year-old student and an adult family member. Portman has been teaching 27 years and has always felt safe, she said. But the question of safety has loomed much larger of late. “I have confidence that our administrators are working hard to secure the building while we teach,” she said. “But they can only do so much.” Sparked apparently by the Feb. 14 school shooting in Parkland, Florida, that left 17 dead, a series of threats have been made against area schools over the last two weeks. At some facilities, security was heightened and lockdowns initiated while the threats were investigated. Schools receiving threats included East Central, Webster and Rogers high schools, Dove Science Academy, and Union 9th Grade Center. Also named in threats were the Bixby and Berryhill districts. At East Central, the threat never resulted in a lockdown, but there was a police presence at the school for a couple of days. On Monday, the day after the threat was reported, there were very few students at school, Portman said. http://www.tulsaworld.com/news/local/teachers-try-to-keep-focus-encourage-students-after-recent-school/article_bae7d01a-22b5-52f8-8f0f-3c111567241e.html

Former CIA officer Clare Lopez on the Liz Wheeler Show explains the Gulen Movement and the role their schools play. In the United States they have a combination of charter schools (160) and private schools and Universities. They have sold 1 private school (Putnam) and are currently trying to sell another private school in Brooklyn, NY (Amity) These Gulen operated CMOs (Charter Management Organizations) are stealing from tax payers. Their largest scam has to do with Real Estate, they will purchase a property then lease it back to via the school district at a huge inflated cost. Dove Science Academy, Horizon Science Academy and other Gulenists operated schools do this. As well as H1-b Visa immigration scams, defrauded the Federal Government via grants, bonds as well as EEOC infractions . Their schools perform mediocre at best and in many areas below standard. They falsify and cheat on tests painting a false image with awards and other contests. Gulen Schools are a danger to the children of the USA. Did you know that the Sun’s light shines differently on Earth at different times of the year? In this visualization watch as the Earth orbits the Sun, rotating, like a slightly tilted, spinning top. This rotation changes the angle at which sunlight hits the surface of our planet, creating the different seasons we experience here on Earth. Can you see how sunlight at different times of the year changes the productivity of life on land and in our oceans? On April 29, 2013 - President Barack Obama reiterated his strong support for science and technology in this speech to members of the National Academy of Sciences at its 150th annual meeting. Science, technology, engineering, and medicine are critical to the nation's prosperity, Obama said, noting that investments made today are bound to pay off for many years to come. The president warned that recent mandatory cuts in federal spending could slow these critical advances in research. "With the pace of technological innovation today, we can't afford to stand still for a year or two years or three years," Obama said. "We've got to seize every opportunity we have to stay ahead, and we can't let other countries win the race for ideas and technology of the future." Just as science and technology have advanced the nation in the past, he noted, they will be critical in addressing today's challenges. "We will continue to pursue advances in science, engineering, infrastructure, education, and environmental protection, and especially science-based innovations to help us minimize and adapt to global threats like climate change," Obama said. President Obama made an impassioned plea to ensure that the nation's young people continue to maintain their spirit of discovery and receive strong educations in STEM. "We don't want our kids just to be consumers of the amazing things that science generates," Obama said. "We want them to be producers as well. We've got to make sure we're supporting that next generation of dreamers and risk takers." Since Abraham Lincoln signed the congressional charter founding the National Academy of Sciences 150 years ago, the Academy has played a critical role in advancing science and shaping public policy. "[Lincoln] recognized that finding a way to harness the highest caliber scientific advice for the government would serve a whole range of long-term goals for the nation," Obama said, noting that his administration turns to the Academy for advice on many issues. "Like President Lincoln 150 years ago, President Obama clearly understands the importance of S&T to the future prosperity and security of our nation," said NAS President Ralph J. Cicerone in introductory remarks. "We're pleased that President Obama and the administration continue to turn to the National Academy of Sciences for help, analysis, and advice on many issues facing the nation and the world today." President Obama is the only president to address the National Academy of Sciences' annual gatherings of members twice; he also spoke at the 2009 NAS annual meeting. Other presidents who have addressed the NAS include George H.W. Bush in 1990, John F. Kennedy, who spoke at the NAS Centennial Convocation in 1963 and at the NAS annual meeting in 1961, Jimmy Carter in 1979, and Calvin Coolidge in 1924. The National Academy of Sciences is a private, nonprofit institution that was established under a congressional charter signed by President Abraham Lincoln in 1863. It recognizes achievement in science by election to membership, and -- with the National Academy of Engineering, Institute of Medicine, and National Research Council -- provides science, technology, and health policy advice to the federal government and other organizations.

In mid-August John Oliver, the host of HBO’s Last Week Tonight, leveled a very unfair, unfortunate, unbalanced, unwarranted and generally unhinged tirade against charter schools. Here is a brief summary of Mr. Oliver’s presentation: “Some charter schools have been mismanaged. Ergo, ipso facto, presto change-o, all charter schools are bad, bad, bad.” As we said, it was very unfortunate – especially since the show has been viewed by more than five million people and is being used as a propaganda piece against charters everywhere. But thanks to CER’s “Hey John Oliver! Back Off My Charter School!” Video Contest, you now have the chance to help set the record straight and let people know how much charter schools are helping their children, families, teachers and communities. AND you have the chance to win $100,000 for your school.
