I got an off brand phone case for about 15 bucks that would charge my phone to about 80% if it were on 1%. It looked exactly like the Mophy cases (or however you spell it) it had the same top coming off thing, it had a button on the back, and it showed you how much charge it had. It was bad quality but super cheap.
But the mophie case on Amazon! It’s 30 dollars now!!

Hey...it's just Apple hinting about removing the battery along with the ports as we move further to the future...and when they do they have that battery case in their defense.
Duh...it's shaped like a battery. It's low in capacity like Apple battery's and most important is that you have to recharge after every full charge like a regular battery.
can u save me plsss!!!!!! i realyy want to buy one but what reaally bothers me is the fact that i will be using my iphone while he is charging . can i use the battery case instead of my iphone battery and then when the battery case runs out my phone will use its original battery? plssss
The universal negative respones to the Apple battery case is one of the best examples of why tech reviewers are legitimately the dumbest people in all of consumer media. What's so ugly? "I don't understand why there's a lump there" really? Are you mentally disabled? The lump is the battery ... people would have preferred if they had added a bunch of unnecessary bulk to round it out? How the hell does that work with the Apple design aesthetic?
Honestly I think it's the best looking battery case I've seen. All the other ones I've seen are these giant cases that try super hard to make themselves look all rounded out, desperately trying to disguise what they obviously are. I love that Apple embraces what the thing is and does it in an elegant way that doesn't try to apologize for itself. If you're going to put a battery case on your phone, why try to hide the fact that you have a battery case on the phone? Makes no aesthetic sense and looks stupid. This battery case is awesome.
Literally everything you described about Mofi being better isn't better. A two piece design you say, but it's PATENTED you say?
Wow! Oh wait a second, patenting a terrible idea doesn't make it a good idea. The one piece design of the Apple case is obviously superior, how on earth is it better to have some flimsy top piece that comes off? Seriously what fucking planet are you from? You read it's "patented" and thing that makes it a good idea? It doesn't. One piece is obviously always better.
Why would you want extra buttons and indicators on the back of your phone? The Apple case builds all that functionality INTO your phone. "You have to turn on your phone to see" lmfao, no, you ARE ABLE TO SEE IT THROUGH YOUR PHONE. That's what you WANT. If you're a normal human being, that is. "You don't get to choose when to turn it on" lmfao, what? Why in the hell would you run the phone off of the built-in battery? That defeats the entire purpose of a battery case, if you're doing that just get a battery bank. Yes, great idea: wear down the battery on your $600+ dollar smartphone that costs well over $100 to replace the battery on rather than running off of the $100 battery case first and using the built in battery for the backup when that runs out. Thinking a toggle on/off button would be a remotely good idea is a perfect example of an incredibly stupid idea, and literally every tech reviewer has commented on it. You people are morons.
Apple case builds all the functionality you want of an extra battery directly into the phone ecosystem, the design is actually great, and you can charge it and your phone together with just a lightning cable. It's not meant as some huge battery bank like the Mofi. It is designed to do one thing: deliver all-day talk for people who heavily use their phones all day and run out of juice with the built-in battery. It literally does everything it is supposed to do perfectly, it's one of the most perfectly executed designs we've seen yet from Apple and the fact that you can't see that because you think it should have some hideous design like the Mofi (seriously, if you look at those two cases side by side and think the Mofi looks better you are aesthetically retarded) again shows what an ignoramus of a tech reviewer you are.
"It's not the best battery case you can get for your iPhone" it absolutely is, if what you want is a completely integrated don't-even-think-about-it solution to get a full day of heavy use out of your phone. The design is excellent, it adds only and exactly the amount of bulk it needs to in order to perfectly accomplish what it needs to do, without requiring any thought or input from the user. If what you want is what Mofi has to offer, you're better off with a separate power bank.
Fennec Besixdouze OMG, thank you for writing this. I was cringing the whole time watching this video and thinking exactly what you wrote. It is rediculous that this guy is the most popular YouTube tech reviewer. He never has any useful insights and rather makes dumb recommendations on a weekly basis. But this video is probably the most obviously dumb thing he has made. I don't even use an iPhone, but his incredible stupidity here just made me furious haha. Anyhow thanks again for your funny and clever comment. Cheers!
I actually like the look of Apple's better, all other battery cases are too bulky and look like helmets, I rather have consistent symmetry of shape (ie. rectangle in the middle of another rectangle) than something that looks like a clump of mud. Yes it looks funky, but I kinda like that. I basically just think of it as the iphone wearing a slim backpack. Most importantly, all other battery cases add too much length, while also adding bulk simultaneously, NOT GOOD. With Apple's, it's the same size the phone was in your pocket before, except with the added bulk of one of those slim, low-profile card wallets some companies sell that take up practically no room.
I've had 3 different mophies, and after 2-3 months they begun to heat up even after being used for only a couple of minutes, whereas the apple case doesn't, which is why I think the apple case is better
I use the Apple Smart Battery Case. I bought it for Lightning out with full dock/headphone dongle/ A/V capabilities. It's absolutely fantastic. The lack of a power switch and battery indicator on the outside are good things because they simplify the user experience. I just forget it's there now. Being able to see case charge on the phone screen in NC or LS when plugged in is far superior to LED lights on the back. It redirects the microphone and speaker to be front facing. It exactly matches the white color of the front of my rose gold iPhone. I'm willing to forgo 800 mAh or so because this case has no wasted space inside. Thanks anyway MKBHD, but this user is going 1st party.
I love the Applecase it's simple no buttons I make sure the case and my phone are both 100% charged and I'm on my way I don't have to switch a button if my phone is empty to activate the case! it's all automatic plus the case is still slimmer than those hughe other cases on the market ! and why is everyone bitching about the price by now you know all Apple products are expensive? no one is forcing you to buy it?! it's a slim case and I love it and I'm happy with it :)
I think the case is a design fail, but actually it feels very thin.. just like the phone, the other one is bulky on the sides.. so you get the feeling of holding a 600$ bulldozer tyre (even if the second one is more attractive.. as a battery case obviously)
People complaining about getting cheaper ones and that this is overpriced but apple own products know what to do and are specially made a cheaper one maybe sends dangerous amounts of volts into your phone
I dont understand why you would want to manually turn on the charging on the case, I like Apples way better, and 2 Apple's case actually shows you a percentage instead of some stupid LEDs that are not really that accurate.
The apple battery case for the iphone 7 is better than the mophie juice pack air. Here is why, you can listen to music with the apple battery case and you can't with the mophie juice pack air. The mophie uses a micro usb while the apple case uses a lightning. Mophie should have added a headphone jack. If they did, I would 100% sure buy mophie instead of apples battery case.
have a mophie for my galaxy S7 and the apple battery case for my iphone 7. both cost me $100. the mophie, while being designed for a galaxy and not an iphone, is absurdly huge, heavy AF, ran hot AF, and my phone as well as the case were routinely drained by the end of a long day. It also had a different design, where the entire front panel comes off to insert the phone which was far less intuitive.
It was about the same amount of letdown as the galaxy s7's battery itself. After months of struggling with being able to use my android past 2pm, i went iphone out of frustration and picked this case up. My internal battery is routinely at 100% by the end of a moderate use day with good coverage, and i have yet to actually see the phone die on me. Its been 2 months. I love this case, idk why it gets hated on. the bump on the back makes it easy to hold (not sure if its marketed that way?) as well as the silicone grip. Its pretty light for being a battery case, and lasts far longer.
aesthetically, i dont care for its chin so much, but have long fingers and found it makes it easier to hold as well.
