We take a look at five of the biggest new features coming with the 2017 version of NVIDIA's SHIELD console (the best part? You'll be able to get all of them on your 2015 SHIELD, too).

I would just like to add a comma I recently purchased the product and let me tell you I've only had this product for about an hour and a half and I feel like it's the biggest mistake and it's such a headache
first it brings no type of instruction manual whatsoever so in order from someone like me an adverb Joel to operate it I have to constantly watch videos on YouTube to learn how to operate it which is absolutely ridiculous who sells a product 100 instruction manual and yes I understand those type of things can be downloaded but yet still for a consumer it is inconvenient
next I have been costly searching on YouTube on an instruction video on how to operate the remote use the air mouse capability another headache because for all the videos that I've watched and Soha far I've watched 11 of them none of them tell you exactly how to use the new remote all videos are of the old remote and even then they really don't explain much because the person who made the video is to psyched up on how great it is that they really truly never explain the main point which is how to operate it
guess it's just me but like I said I was really psyched up to get this product and now that I have it I'm running back to Best Buy tomorrow to give this back it is not worth the headache in my opinion
Most people buy this for kodi I believe so a tad over priced could gel the xbox one for the same price also kodi has gone full circle and returning to its original birth place on the xbox with an app being developed.
I have the first generation of this device and yeah it's great but after all the updates has started to go Pete tong
I bought this a couple days ago. I have 4 older ones as well. Does Google assistant work out of the box or is it coming later? It is not working for me at all. No reviews I have seen say its coming later. How do I get it to work?
1. Removed micro SD slot to save money
2. No speed improvement over the other versions to save money
3. Smaller to save money
4. Removed headphone jack from the remote to save money
conclusion 200 bucks for Nvidia to only save money...
Crime? = Downgrade
I'll stick to my old shield with metal base remote with headphone jack modded with a better battery. with a sd slot for internal storage use so that i have 2 usb ports available to me and so on :P then i will just buy the new controller the end :P
I agree, I would have liked to have the micro sd slot in there - makes the 16gb model useful, as the card could be mounted as internal storage. Of course, you can attach an external usb storage, but it is not quite he same.
Standard edition should include an IR receiver for people using a nice universal remotely like the Logietch. The biggest hardware improvement I was hoping for but didn't get was a better upscaler. I wished they'd make a joint project with Oppo for a great streaming unit - I don't care about the games - they could making a standard unit and a gaming unit geared for people who want to play games.
I'd rather just buy a Playstation at this point. I don't really see the point of any of this. Android on my TV sucks my balls. Plus 1/2 the content on Amazon isn't even available with Prime in the first place.
On Amazon.de it shows a picture with the remote and controller. Does this mean this comes as a bundle or are those just separate options ? If you only get the shield , how are you supposed to control it ? ( would a wireless PC Xbox One controller work ? :) )
says someone who was NOT aware of HOW things worked before the new Shield Update (that came in the other day), you couldn't "just download it from the play store", you had to sideload all kinds of stuff just to get it HALF functional and even then it was in STANDARD DEFINITION. Now we can get up to 4k.
Johnny T. Vu I have the old nvidia shield tv1 16gb , if spending 100 is nothing for you, I would say buy the 500 gb one, kids come to house and the figure figured how to use the system, they added war thunder, and some other android stuff like kodi, and the thing is full already, had to delete some android games I downloaded my self to create space, I will get one sd card and set it as an internal hard drive.
Doesn't matter if updates come quickly if the actual user experience is shit. I have the Shield Tablet, and no matter how many updates it receives, it still has the same 10+ second freezes with more than two background apps.
Ya know.. No one so far is ragging on that controller..
THIS THING IS PITCHED AS A GAMER FRIENDLY STREAMER!
Yet no one is pissed at an 'angular' controller.
Since like 30 years ago it was decided rounded edges and ergonomic fit are what's needed.
So what the hell possesses a gaming-savvy company like NVidia to design something this way?..
No one is complaining... thus... mainly streaming fans are eyeing this one up.
Another way to look at it... their marketing is failing to target gamers.
