It seems epic, and I love just about everything to do with Google, but Chrome OS doesn't do it for me. Its just a giant phone/tablet with a keyboard. I'd like to see Google make their OS be able to run AAA games (run Steam) and have to power to do things available on Microsoft. If you could support gaming, I'd buy one in a flash!
Unless your a hacker DO NOT buy the pixelbook, nothing will work, or worse youll like it and make the switch then slowly realize that nothing works.
By the way I am an owner of the pixelbook and its my favorite device but I am a developer and without spending hours and hours hacking nothing would work.
~1% of the stuff that doesnt work on pixelbook:
Bluetooth: (try connecting pixelbuds to pixelbook lol)
Tuns of apps
common kernel interupts
Always on top
Most root apps
system sleep/wake locks
I can keep going on and on but the point is nothing will work as expected and unless your a hacker or a internet browsing sheep I'd bet you will hate it.
I'm trying to look for a thin laptop that is as portable as this. I need it to be good on using to browse, media/ music/ YouTube, where I can download apps that I tend to use on everyday basis, and something I can connect a printer/scanner. I use it for a lot of crafts and documents so I need it to be able to connect with the printer/scanner. So if I can find something that will be able to do all of this I'll be happy with it. I'm not good at choosing a good laptop. So I really need help in good recommendations. Please help 🙏
This product would be better if it was like the asus padfone for the pixel 2.
Dock the pixel 2 to the tablet so you’ll get a tablet experience.
Dock the tablet to a keyboard with trackpad so you’ll have a desktop/laptop experience with a desktop chrome browser. That desktop like UI must be chrome os.
Like if you agree.
Just looking at it I love the minimalist design of the laptop itself. The additional option of Android apps is a very nice bonus, but my question is why on Earth does that make it worth $999 plus ANOTHER $99 for the pen? He pointed out the surface line of computers, which is very attractive. If you need a touchscreen for your laptop then why not go with the Windows option? A laptop that costs $100 less and allows for much more customization and control over the device instead of locking you into Google Chrome on Google's dumbed down Linux distro
I instantly see a way of charging the pen with out it being awkward.
Why don't they have a hole for the pen like the note 8 but when it's in the hole it charges the pen. Add quick charge in the pen and it's not inconvenient if it only takes 5 to 15 mins to charge.
The problem with the pixel as well as all Google products that have keyboards have lower case letters written on the keyboard instead of regular traditional uppercase letters why is that I don't know but that's really crazy because you know on a regular keyboard you're used to uppercase letters and it's a quiet a doozy to get rid of the getting used to the lower case and it's also quite a doozy because you got to get used to it it's not right Google should rethink the design on the keyboard make uppercase letters that make the shift key to make lowercase and it's supposed to be caps lock key which there isn't I don't think so but I could be wrong about that
Let’s all be honest here. The Aaaa battery is a joke. The Apple Pencil’s ability to recharge by plugging it into your iPad Pro is way better than trying to find where you placed your stash if 1990s batteries. Also, you can unlock your Mac by just having your Apple Watch on. You don’t have to do anything else other than just sit in front of the computer and walla. The Mac unlocks without having to hit any button
when they make another google pixelbook they should have the speakers above and below the screen display. That would mean you get cleaner and louder sounds from the laptop when its folded or in a laptop stance.
Thank You for the helpful hint regarding unlocking your Pixelbook with finger scanning by using your phone to log right back in. Learned something new about my Pixelbook. I enjoy every aspect of the Google Pixelbook especially since I am a newbie when it comes to high technical systems like this one. Google Assistant built in Pixelbook and my Pixelbook pen with Google Assistant is a life saver! Worth every cent and more. Thank You enjoyed your help!
