With Google Assistant spearheading the Google Pixel's appeal (according to Google), is it something that can actually be found useful in its early stages?

Pixel 2 hardware isn't great, the software operating system easily outshines the hardware. When Google makes a better hardware than Samsung , only then will I buy. But seriously , outside of the camera , the rest of the phone sucks! Come on Google , you have the money to make better hardware than the pixels thus far!
When you shop mention the city you live in and mention the item(s) you are looking for. I learned this by mistake. Say something like Denver Smartphones and it will pop up a list of Smartphones in your city. But always mention the city you live in.
This came with Nougat on my Note 5. Frankly, I'm not impressed. She's so dumb that she doesn't even know what version she is:
Me: "OK Google", "What version are you?"
Assistatant: "I'm the version that's gonna do my best to help you!"
It was a serious question. (And yes, she really did say "gonna".) Sheesh! It's like someone asking me my name and my trying to cover for the fact that I didn't know.
As far as I have been able to determine, when you use the "Tell me about my day" feature, it will only tell you reminders that have been set on the phone and not those that have been set using the calendar. It appears that reminders set in the web client and those set on the phone don't sync and it doesn't see them. It also doesn't seem to read all day calendar events but only appointments scheduled for a specific time.
did u guys know that u could actually select a specific word or text to find more information on Google assistant screen search akin to the Google now tap thingy? you just need to highlight the text and then do a usual Google screen search in Google assistant (swipe up). your would find the details of it. It's really useful. But I feel the old Google screen search was better.
In Google now screen search you could select text from your screen (even text from images). I can see in your status bar you have the icon for this feature which seems to not be present in Google assistant. May I ask how you got it?
super cool, yea. i don't give a fucking shit about an ai talking to me.
my phone automatically switched to this bullshit and i want my old fucking screenshot button back!!! WHAT THE FUCK?!? HOW DO I GET RID OF THIS FUCKING FUCK?!!?!
I remember Google promised contextual understanding for Google Now last year but that didn't work (#Google Event 2015) well so they pushed everything to Google assistant. Don't know why they didn't just update google now and say these are the new features....#Wierd
We have the Google assistant and have now for nearly a month and use it on a daily basis for a number of things including turning on and off the lights choosing and playing music receiving our news at etc, etc and we absolutely love it. We will soon be adding the ability to mirror to our TV very soon as well as a security system. Google may have a few things to work on like a to do list, reminders and sending text but I know Google will come out kicking butt.
It is certainly not enough of an upgrade from Google Now to get me to spend that kind of money on a crappy looking phone with one bottom firing mono speaker. I'll keep my 6P with bigger screen and front facing stereo speakers... Google Now works fine for me...
3 things here. 1, using 'OK GOOGLE' sounds awkward and is. 2, If Google want's to build a personal Google for everyone then why limit it to Pixel? 3, Why would I buy Home (if I could in England) if I can't then use it in conjunction with my Nexus 6p? It all seems a bit bonkers if you ask me.
i just hate that i have to say ok google, id be better if i copuld jsut double tapp somewhere on the screen.
the next thing that still kepss me from using it is that i have to say it 2 times or ill have to wait 3 secs for it to start, its annoying af
hey, how do i get rid of google assistant? a super smart ai is cool and all, but i really don't give a shit about it. i want to send a screenshot without having to talk to my fucking phone. please help me.

+Denys Freitas Oh sorry 😅
Also to be fair actually no one use it in general... There's only four of my friends that use Allo, I use it to speak with them...
I also use the Google assistant, it's pretty funny, you can play games with it (I like the emoji game and the Rubik cube game)
