At JailbreakCon 2014 I sat down and chatted with Steven De Franco, better known in the community as iH8sn0w about what jailbreaking is all about and whether or not you should jailbreak or root your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch or Android phone / tablet.
I'm jailbroken on iOS 9.3.3 right now. It makes my iOS experience that much better. I feel like I can use my iPhone as a computer replacement: I have a filesystem browser which can open various file types, zip/unzip, I have a Safari downloader, custom CC toggles, organize notifications by app, and much more.
I used to jailbreak my iPad and I loved it. But recently I had a huge scare when it died on me. Luckily I'm very tech savvy and I managed to fix it (even though I did an all nighter to do so). But even if I hadn't fixed it, it would be dead because the warranty is gone once jailbroken. So right now I would say don't jailbreak as it has caused my iPad to temporarily die on me, and voided the warranty. But to each their own. I was advised against it, but still did it haha
ever since I first jailbroke my iPod touch, I was hooked. and when I got my first phone (the LG k4) I wanted something similar. even though a lot of the stuff that you can do on iOS with jailbreak you can do on android without root, but that wasn't enough for me.. so I rooted it. no I just can't live without root, xposed framework, custom recoveries and custom ROMs. and I still have that iPod touch! it's a 6th Gen (I got it when it had just came out) and now I'm stuck on iOS 10.2.1 waiting for a new jailbreak to come out...
Advice: You can Jailbreak, but NEVER DOWNLOAD TWEAKS. Recently, I jailbroke my iPhone, and I was pretty damn excited! I could download Cydia and do some awesome stuff! So, i started downloading some tweaks. A few days later, while I was playing a game in my iPhone, it suddenly just stopped. Just... stopped. And then, it reboot itself. It didn't completely reboot. My iPhone, was stuck on the apple logo, and then reboot itself again. I couldn't get out of the apple logo. I took it to the Apple Store, but they said I could replace it or buy a new one. Trust me, their is no solution if you download a few tweaks (even ONE tweak) your phone, will be in danger.
LolZ Dabz you’re just a fucking moron. You have to be prepared for what comes after a jailbreak if that happens. You didn’t need to take it to Apple, you could’ve kept it and still have a jailbreak by *putting your phone in recovery mode(reboot buttons but for about 15-20 seconds) and just restore the phone with your icloud to get your stuff back*
Seriously, tweaks don’t do SHIT to your phone unless you were stupid enough to pirate every single one of them. If you’re pirating something make sure you use Cydown it’s easier and you update whatever you pirate so it never could be faulty.
