Huawei: remains the best smartphone brand in China.
According to a new report by analyst Canalys, which estimates that Xiaomi, valued at 45 billion dollars by the end of 2014, sent 15 million phones during the quarter to occupy the fourth place in China. That's a 60 percent increase from the first quarter of 2017. Xiaomi still offers the best value in the Chinese market, and remains the preferred choice by price conscious consumers. The online channel is still a key route for the market for Xiaomi and this quarter saw it take the lead. The rise of competitors such as Oppo and Vivo, and Huawei's focus on mid-range devices with their brand of honor, were seen in Much as responsible for the struggles of Xiaomi. Likewise, competitors became wise to Xiaomi's online distribution tactics and imitated them with some success. Meanwhile, abroad, Xiaomi's expansion plans did not go on, with India arguably the only exception. That was not helped by the departure of his head of international.
