Can someone please help me. I have an LG G4 and I have a fast charging adapter, but I also need an USB-Cable that supports it. Does my phone support a Type C- Usb Cable? or does Micro USB also support fast charging?
So we have been using Usb 2.0 and 3.0 for many years and now you have to ditch all stabdards because someone invented type C connection?Big BS.They should now make devices with both ports so there a smooth transition and not making people struggle with different plugs and adapters. Also any computers and laptops ahould get 3x new type C port and you want to use all at once.Non resersable Usb 3.0?You have to be brainless monkey not to know how to match plug and socket. There are other types of plugs in the world and have ony one way to plug in.Should we change them all too?Otherwise its total horse sh..
"Hey man, do you have a phone charger?"
"Yeah, but it's micro USB. Does that work?"
"Do you have an iPhone?"
"Nope, that won't work."
I can't wait for the day I never have to have that conversation again.
I know and said that the nokia was for power.
And it had 2 cables. One for positive and one for negative. One on the outside, and one on the inside.
Why not have the power on the inside and data on the outside(or the other way)
The 20 sides is just to make it not rotate. The connectors would still be rings, like a headphone jack.
+Ef Bee Eye the rotating plug? Make it a 20 sided polygon, and it will be just like a circle for the user, but it wont rotate.
Power, I'm not an electrician. Please explain why transferring power is a problem. Nokia (rip) had a super tiny barrel connector for power.
You can make a barrel connector for data, and a barrel connector for power, why can't you have both?
+Ef Bee Eye none that I know of. But it doesn't matter. Both power and data connections are just cables.
You can make them in any shape you want.
The barrel connection is far more complex. While the pin line is really easy.
Having 7 cables in a 2.5 mm barrel is the maximum I know of. Usb 3.0 and up, needs 9 at least and 11 is the fastest.
Also, if they made it barrel it will not have any room for more in the future.
Putting more pins in a barrel needs a bigger barrel. That cant fit in a phone, so if they would have made it so, they would have to cancel it in 4.0
Great, now the usb is going cost as much as a game controller. Smh. I know its not going cost the as the current ones with have gone up not down in price. Its going stay high so people get used to seeing it at this level so when then the new one is released at a similar but higher price they'll be ok with it because it's new
Well said, short and very informative. It would also be nice to see the type-c symbol if there is one, I believe my lenovo y50 4k touch came with one but not sure can't find the Manuel that came with it.
APPLE DID NOT INVENT TYPE-C. I had to say it before anyone else asked. TYPE-C was out months before Apple showcased it's new Macbook. It was invented by a group of companies, not one (Microsoft, HP, Dell, IBM and some other respectable names, invented USB Type-C)
+Peter Mcwilliams I am 22 with a stable job and working on my doctorate. I'm not going to sit here and waste my time with your uneducated huffing and puffing. By the way, I am right, and you're ignorant.
1:53 Whoa slow down there fella, do not confused USB Type-C with USB 3.1
USB 3.1 was a revision to devices to enhance the speed of the devices without any physical changes required to existing 3.0 ports -- This was done to catch up with thunderbolt speeds at the time. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB#USB_3.1
