here's a few suggestions for surviving any situation You never know when things are going to go bad and that is why it is important that you ensure that you have some knowledge about the survival skills in order to keep yourself and your family safe when things go awry. Most of the people just think that these situations are not going to happen but the truth is that these situations can happen any time and it is not just for the end of the world but you would need such survival skills even in times of natural calamities as well and that is why it is important for you to learn such skills and we would be highlighting 3 of such important skills. 1. Have food stock: You need to understand that in times like these, you need to have a spare food stock and you need to have foodstuffs which can last for a longer period of time like canned food and dry fruits like cashews as well. These would provide you with energy as well as other nutrients which are required for surviving as well. You need to ensure that you are having foodstuffs which do not require any additional processing and can be used directly as well. 2. Find a shelter: 3. Know the dangers: You have to be prepared for the most common dangers at such point of time to ensure that you are able to make preparations against it. This can be wild animals or the weather or other people depending on the situation you are in and therefore, you have to identify the immediate danger and after that you have to start the preparations to safeguard yourself from these immediate dangers as well to ensure that you are able to face them if at all you come across them. So, whenever you are speaking about survival situations, these 3 are the most basic tips which you have to follow at all points of time and once you are able to follow these simple tips, you can be sure that you would be keeping your family safe and yourself as well from all such types of dangers. (I learned these and the reasons they work from Marla Survive System site )

Gear that can go anywhere: Being stuck at an airport due to a tornado, I am rather impressed with the need to meet as many of the 10 Cs as practical in gear that will pass through the TSA as carry on.   - Cutting tool: Could be checked luggage but should not pass the TSA. - Combustion: Could be checked luggage, but should not pass the TSA.       - Note:  flints, matches, and some lighters can be in checked luggage.                    But, combustable liquids, kindling are not seen as good. - Cover: Carry on: tarp/blankets, so long as reflective coatings do not freak out the TSA. - Container: Carry on: empty containers can pass through the TSA. - Cordage: Carry on. - Candle Light: a flashlight: Carry on: candles need to be checked luggage. - Cotton Bandana: Carry on. - Compas: Carry on. - Cargo Tape: Carry  on. - Canvas Needle: Could be checked luggage but should not pass the TSA. 72 hour items: - Food can be carried on the plane and pass thorugh the TSA - Water can be gotten in bottles or put in dry containers after passing through the TSA and a biologically pure water filter is very wise. Recommended items: - smart phone recharger, cords and batteries and international power strip. - Note a smart phone can act as     - emergency communication       - a flashlight,     - a news source     - a compass (application) Keep items likely to be inspected together and easy to remove to prevent complete unpacking of your items.  keeping the kit small or likely in your pocket just might help in the event of a water landing.

My partner gave me this awesome survival guide “suvo amazing guide” (Google it) as a gift and I say I liked it so much. We are doomsday preppers, but want to be prepared if any form of disaster hits. this are all junks! buy a fixed blade knife and learn bushcrafting if youre really interested in surviving in the wild,if you think you wont survive without your fancy drinking straw or pink paracord bracelet, stay out of the jungle, that place is not for you,go back to urban area and learn how to survive there for you are spending more time in the city rather thatn in the wild,if you just want to camping or be with one with nature once in awhile, bring lots of foods and drinks to survive one weekend, and dont forget your portable solar panel charger to charge all your gadgets so you can use all your survival apps, cheers!

I've been traveling across Canada on a motorized peddle bike I built for the last 6+ weeks straight. Living in the wild and traveling, my experience of these products would have to say: Flint and steel? Get a Gerber - Bear Grills survival knife... Flint, steel/knife, sharpener all in one... Or carry water proof matches and a lighter like a fucking genius! Skip... Paracord bracelet... Fucking survival niche bullshit... Have a bag? Put robe inside of bag... 5x longer... Pocket spoon fork bullshit... Buy a folding utensil, REAL FORK, knife, bottle opener and spoon... Skip... I'll buy that belt! less than 20$! Straw is a PIECE OF SHIT! Can't filter shit if it's not forced through anything... Imagine how hard you would need to suck? Maybe great for the average street whore drinking from puddles... I like the new knife sharpener, but I rather the old one, I'm able to sharpen the Gerber - Bear Grills Tarang Machette... Meh... Get the Ultimate instead of the Pro... Can sharpen hatchet, machete, knife... I mentioned somewhere else... I FUCKING WANT THAT BOW! Less than 200$! The bag might be nice one stop shop... MAYBE! Do not... I repeat DO NOT focus on needing a compass, read the sun... where did it rise? Where did it set? Now you've got N.E.S.W. Cloudy? You can still see the sun... Raining? You should NOT be traveling while being soaked unless ABSOLUTELY necessary... Then use a compass, unless your in the mountains... then you get magnetic interference... Check out my channel for more of my opinions!

they're gimmicks the bear Grylls knife is one of if not most hated knife in the world for a good reason it's shit and all the gerber bear Grylls shit is all shit besides the belt but that's way overpriced and a water filter isn't going to help you unless you purify the water after filtering

You can spot the wannabe survivalists from a mile away. I am prior military- enlisted in 2005 as 11B & my first stop was 30th AG at Fort Benning then off to Sand Hill. Now we did not require any real need for things like an E-tool or a good fixed blade knife during deployments, but we sure did during Basic and AIT on Sand Hill, especially during our 2 week FTX. My CCO would constantly loosen itself from my M4 so I wrapped it up with 550 cord. I would always lose my plastic spoon that came with MRE' or simply break them. I would have killed for a reusable metal one with a clip for easy storage- especially one with an easy access flathead so I didn't have to rummage through my ruck to find my multi-tool so I could tighten my CCO. I would use 550 cord for everything and would have to barter my MRE snacks for extra. Having a 550 cord bracelet was something we started doing as we used it so much! We would wrap anything the drill Sgt would let us. We used it for everything, even setting up our nighttime hooch. Now, we didn't use these skills during my deployments, but it taught me some great lessons that you can only learn from being in a survival situation. I was discharged in 2011, but continue to hone these skills. I have 2 State parks within 45 minutes of me here in Texas, both of which have huge primitive camping areas. I go at least once every two months for a weekend. Theses tools each do have a place, but there is always a trade off. Weight, skills, anticipated time & terrain of primitive living, etc. Try using a fix blade knife for a couple months for hacking twigs for kindling or splitting small logs & then you need it for shaving some dry wood so you have something light enough to start a fire only to realize it's to dull. What are the odds you have a sharpening stone in your ruck? Bet you would wish you had 'shitty-useless-tacticool' knife that stores a sharpener. What about water? You can't realistically carry more than a canteen or two due to weight. Are you just gonna hope you are stranded next to a plethora of water so you can collect, start a fire and boil it as needed? You will likely kill your lighter quickly if you are lucky enough to be stranded next to a magical land of lakes and rivers everywhere. I guess that 'tacticool' firestarter would be too noob you for you- you'll just rub some sticks together. Have you ever went to the woods with no firewood from the gas station that is cut and stacked perfectly for your weekend beer fest? Left your cooler with water at home? Left your lighter and starter log at home? I urge you to try it then come back and watch these 'bullshit tacticool' videos. I'm interested to hear what you 'survivalists' keep in your ruck?

brad Erickson where i live,i only have my machete,a small knife, disposable lighter, stainless steel water canteen and my hammock, and go to jungle for 3 to 5 days before i go back home, the trick is,never rely in your tools, they always break or lose, instead of having lots of tacticool tools, try to learn to survive without them and youll be thankful even if you only have small knife left to survive, learn is the key, cheers!

Most "preppers" think gear is going to be the end all to survival, so they spend crazy money buying themselves crap that makes them think they're a Navy SEAL 😂😂😂‼️ What most of these fat couch-commandos don't realize is they're fooling themselves. REAL SEAL's, SF and Rangers will tell you that survival depends 99% on mental toughness ...not trinkets. Most "survivalist" wouldn't last a week in the bush even with those trinkets because they're weak ...mentally and physically. So, quit wasting your time trying to convince yourself you're Rambo. You're the only one who actually believes it. There's your REALITY CHECK.

brad Erickson Demise? He's still alive: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aron_Ralston As for hiking alone, that's idiotic. According to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aron_Ralston#Accident "Ralston had not informed anyone of his hiking plans, nor did he have any way to call for help", which is even more idiotic. The article states that he was "8 miles (13 km) from his vehicle, and had no phone." The article doesn't state whether a phone would have received a signal in his location (and especially not down the slot canyon he was trapped in). This was an accident that could have been easily resolved if Ralston had had someone with him.
brad Erickson (6 months ago)
No, his demise was due to two issues- complacency & lack of using the buddy system when it was available. If you had ever spent a weekend in a primitive situation you would find value in some of these tools

Holy cow, I had forgotten how badly I hate salesmen.  "Blending precision and perfection with only the finest unicorn blood, our product (which you'll never need if you have a brain) will hopefully make us millionaires so we can buy a home in Bora Bora."  It's sad to see companies like Gerber sell out to mass produce mediocre-quality products which sell phenomenally well since they have a well known (if ridiculously over-hyped) name attached.
