I've been using an iPad 3 32GB for five years now. The battery life is abysmal, and I do mean "abysmal!" This thing, when it's at 0% brightness with the low-light filter on, will lose total charge while charging. Even though I hate Apple for being as anti-consumer as they can, I really like having an iPad for YouTube, Reddit, Web-browsing and non-demanding games. I think I might finally upgrade.
I think for someone like me this would be perfect. I've been thinking about getting a tablet for a while. My needs aren't particularly advanced. I already have a fairly good pc for serious work, and gaming. I currently mostly use my phone (galaxy s6) more like a tablet watching videos, social media etc when I can't be bothered with the PC or I'm away from home. But its a phone so the screen isn't very big, and the battery life is getting to be a pain when I use it for too long. But I don't feel like buying a new phone either, apart from the battery life my phone still works perfectly well, and honestly none of the newer phones really make me feel like its worth the "upgrade". Also when it comes to the more expensive tablets like the ipad pro and galaxy s tab. Those cost as much a decent laptop, it seems like sacrilege to me to pass up a good laptop over a tablet lol
I’m watching a ton of review videos to see if I want the iPad 2017 version or a pro. I’m leaning towards just the regular iPad because i just can’t justify paying 300 more for things I won’t use. For the average person it’s more practical. I don’t like that it has that air gap and doesn’t come in the rose gold color but for $329.00 I’m ok with that.
Austin can you make a video of ipad pro 9.7 is still worth it in 2018? im thinking of buying ipad pro 10.5 but the price quite turns me off, So thinking of buying the 9.7 instead. im a casual user the 2017 ipad is cheap the problem for me is the air gap. s
Got the 2017 “standard iPad” in space grey 128GB for £429 and I’m pretty impressed with it. It replaces my windows desktop pc about 90% of the time. It’s great for browsing the web and watching YouTube videos. It runs iOS 11 which is great and it can run the latest apps as well. The camera is reasonable in good light but not so great in dim light due to the lack of flash.
Probably wouldn’t have been worth getting the iPad Pro as it costs at least £600 and I have no wish to use the Smart Keyboard or the Apple Pencil.
My dad has a brand new 2017 128gb iPad and we both absolutely love it. Compared to any other tablet I've ever used even comparable to phones battery life on that thing last forever. On top of that I think the screen looks great for what it is it just looks great and the touch screen is incredibly quick Snappy and responsive. I can't compare the speakers sound great. Functionality wise I don't have any problems with it there's no slowdown there's no lag and brother the internet is incredibly fast. My dad had a iPad Air 2 that had recently gotten stolen and we were fortunate enough to have it returned to us but it was completely broken and unusable. Luckily our Protection Service through DirecTV and AT&T was able to replace his iPad with a brand new 2017 128gb iPad and we absolutely love it. I do have to say we did not have any problems whatsoever with the iPad Air 2 at all. That being said I do very much enjoy the 2017 iPad 128gb. And I have to just say this if you're going to get a tablet please do yourself a favor and get the one with the largest storage capacity because especially with Android because it does this thing where all of your apps are stored on the internal memory even if you have an SD card and some models of Android devices allow you to move your app storage to your SD card but it only moved about 50% of the app to your SD card which means if you remove your SD card at that point you won't be able to use your apps but that does save space on your device. I myself just bought a Samsung Tab S2 9.7 inch tablet and it has 64 GB of internal memory along with a 64gb memory card
I'm getting this iPad. I don't care about a gap or not being able to use a pencil or a keyboard. I just want an iPad to watch videos on, FaceTime my friends, text, and play tons of games on. I think this iPad is so worth it! I went from the iPad 2 to this. This iPad "5" looks awesome!!
I upgraded from the iPad Air 1 to the iPad (2017) and I absolutely love it. I watch YouTube videos every day, play some games, browse on chrome, send and receive many emails, even sometimes use Microsoft word on 365 to finish college papers. The speed is noticeably better compared to the iPad Air 1. TouchID 1st gen still works good compared to the Air1 that doesn’t have touchID. Screen brightness & quality is really good and that screen gap you don’t really notice at all especially if you get the space grey model. Battery life is insanely impressive!! Currently on iOS 11.2.1 and everything runs smooth. I say yes to upgrade from an Air 1 or anything before it. If you have an Air 2, you’re fine but consider the iPad Pro 10.5 for your next upgrade honestly.
Lorenzzio John sadly I do not, I play Minecraft PE with a Bluetooth controller, Pubg mobile runs perfect and smooth at 60fps so the 2017 iPad is more than capable for current mobile games on the App Store. I would wait it out cause March 27 Apple announces the new iPad 2018 models if you rather wait it out.
AlphaWolf My recommendation would be for now to wait it out until March 27 when Apple announces the next iPad 2018 models, the 2017 iPad uses the Apple A9 chip found on the iPhone 6S so it’s gonna get slower within the next 2 years maybe. I say better off don’t update the air to iOS 11 and wait for this years iPad models. If anything I still recommend the iPad 2017 it’s probably even cheaper now and it still runs smooth as the first day I got it. 👌🏼👌🏼
Noel Negron what games do you play may I ask? I too have your situation, I had an air and I upgraded to iOS 11 and it was a horrendous mistake, everything slowed down and my favourite multiplayer games would be so laggy. I highly doubt that that'll happen on a 2017 iPad, but I don't want to take any chances. Currently on iOS 10 right now.
Until there is something resembling feature parity with macOS... iOS will remain just a toy for many people. I was within the return window on my 12.9” iPad Pro... and I returned it and all its accessories and bought a 2017 iPad instead. I saved about $900. I think $300 isn’t bad for a toy... but $1,200 is a little steep for something not really up to getting work done. The defining moment was when I realized that anything I can do on the iPad, I can do on my laptop better, quicker, and easier.
like always, you can get something better than an apple product for less money. I was going to get this ipad which would of been my first apple product, but I'm going to pass like usual. I would rather get a asus zenpad s3. I must say, its nice that apple finally came out with something that is actually affordable
I’ve searching for tablets and considering on how long I use the tabled will be used and I want it to be cheap. Turns out, most tablet usage time is somewhat 3-4 years.
I can’t choose Android for this very reason although I am a heavy Android user. Also, the cheaper Android tablets are not aging well due to performance and specifications.
I had a Windows tablet for a while, but the cheaper ones were shitty, a lot.
This only left iPads as the options. Most Apple products are expensive, and this iPad is somehow the best bang for the buck right now. I bought it and it feels good. Lag will happen here and there but as for iOS 11, it can be bearable.
this is the best Tablet you can actually get for this price
there is no other tablet on the market as good as this one from other brands. this ipad 2017 is the overkill against the Galaxy Tab S series in every section
Depends on what you want I'm happy Apple made the small ipad cheaper. I'm using it in my liiving room for a remote control for music and lighting, browsing and youtube. Battery life is great, I'm really happy there is this relatively cheap option. No need to pay close to a 1000 bucks for something I don't need
I really don't see the cover keyboard as a big selling point for the Pro. You can get a bluetooth keyboard for like £10 and it works fine with any iPad. And as for the iPencil, I'm with Steve Jobs on that - from the iPhone launch: "Who wants a stylus? You have to put them away and you lose them. Yuck! We're not using a stylus".
