Speed tests are dumb way, it's not a real test. use your galaxy for half a year and the Mate 9 for the same time, i had both and the Mate 9 is just better in everyway, besides low light performance, the Mate 9 is the better phone, great combo of real big screen, super fast performance, no throttling performance when u need it(aka emulators mainly ppsspp), less post proccessing using cameras and great great battery that will cure your anxiety.
it is something what possibly all reviewers missing in comparisons. It is how fast UI react on touches and finger movements. It is really FIRST thing what create impression about the device. And it is easy to check by opening web page on both devices and moving it simultaneously.
I have several issues with the mate 9 phone, I have the black color one:
1.crescent-shaped area that appears as smudge on the fingerprint scanner appears when touching the sensor, although it disappeard after cleaning, it will returns with using it after a while.
2. One of the camera lenses is not perfectly centered in the middle.
3. Buzzing sound from the charger audible when plugged in while not chrging.
Who else have such issues?
hi . I just bought my new Huawei mate9 on June 29 however the phone battery is not staying that long approx 7 hours and it became hot also while I'm not using it all the time . pls advice how could I fix this ?
Huawei mate 9 is an allrounder, the screen, camera and its performance. The only disappointing thing was its battery for me. Had mate 8 before and it could easily last for 24 hours but this one struggles for even 12 hours with the same usage.
I think this "speed comparisons" are irrelevant I don't see myself saying "wow I'm going to get that smartphone because it's 2 seconds faster that the other one and that's a game changer!!! Those 2 seconds will define my experience using a smartphone". It's about the user experience, the lag, battery, etc. Just saying....
What this really shows is that the mate 9 has aged well after nearly 6 months. Most galaxies of the same age will start to lag hard. Of course it all depends on how much time he has spent with the mate 9
all i see here are an eye candy users. if you really rely as far as specs is concerned. mate 9 wins all in all. it is sad that when new flagship phones are launched in samsung, they always do it in not full potential. I mean, look at huawei, good packaging same freebies across the global and yet s8 freebies are different in every each country and thats being sad and unfair. 😉😉😉
Peck, my Mate 9 had battery drain every couple weeks to a month and I kept having to reset it. I'd get 6-8 hrs SOT without battery drain and 4-5 hrs with battery drain. I have an S8, now and gave my husband my Mate 9 because he drowned his Mate 9 when he was working. He tried S8, but can't give up his desire for a big screen and Mate 9 is cheaper. I told him to use a waterproof bag from now on. The cameras are about equal, too. Details go to Mate 9 and low light to the S8. I think Mate 9 had a better selfie beauty mode, too. And, the selfies allow friends/family in the background with selfies, S8 forces you to choose who to have in focus, so either you or the background people end up a little blurred. Huawei has hardly any accessories in the US, Samsung has a lot. Huawei has proprietary charging, so I heard you can't use the universal c chargers without possible damage to your phone.
Mate 9 two days easy. S8+ a one day easy. The Mate 9 doesn't waste energy on a 4K display AND has 500mAh more battery which makes it's battery life head and shoulders better than the S8+ (also has brilliant battery optimization) I can't notice the difference between 4K and full HD on such a small screen (compared to TVs)Hope this helps :)
I do not own either phone so I am unbiased, however I sell phones for a living and have the usage time to be confident in my answer.
