ATH-M50 vs Beats by Dre Pro, plus a mini rant.
Do you know someone who worships Beats by Dre because of the name? Send them this video!
Beats Pro: http://goo.gl/tPBFy
Why buy either of them when there are cheaper and better alternatives on the market.
Want the sound signature of an M50/x but better? Get the Takstar Pro 82. Or if you want to keep up with that brand loyalty, the 40x is objectively better than the 50/x but sounds better.
Want something like the beats pro? Get a Bose SoundTrue. You'll save yourself 50x.
Enjoy and trust Marques reviews. In this particular comparison the difference is as subjective as any particular personal experience and taste can be. The true measure now is to pair these side by side and technically measure their audio frequency range, harmonic distortion, and the most ignored factor...impedance. The Audio Technica x model with removable cable is not as superior as to the Beats Pro I have my hands on. For instance I have the authentic Beats Pro, White by Monster and the latest red lil Wane which Is slightly higher sensitive 19 DB s louder and frequency range extended. The quality built of the Beats Pro vise pressuring your head or not is phenomenal and the sound it puts is every penny worth for those who can afford an authentic unit.
And the issue is also the fact that most of the customer base are not audiophiles and are often just fine with a punchy bass, esp. considering the type of music they would listen to. Also: Those people do not have/refuse to look for a comparison basis, and therefore they are happy with their "unintended" mediocre purchase choice!
Bought the m50xGM off amazon after seeing this video. After having my pros for 5 years I was super excited. To be honest, they sound pretty comparable.
If you already have Pros, the m50x just isn't worth it. Yeah if I was choosing my first pair I'd go with the m50x, I mean they're 250 bucks cheaper for similar quality sound (again, similar quality, not similar sound). For someone who is already stuck with Pros this isn't really as big of an upgrade as people are saying it is. I'm probably going to return these and look towards something higher-end...
I was open to spend the kind of money for a pair of headphones like Beats Pro but since there is a huge difference in price and not so much difference on performance. Audio Technica it is!!! Besides, your other review said it is the best pair of headphones sub $200.00 Thanks for your review Marques.
Make its just me but I bought those Audio Technica and they annoyed hell out of me...they ear cups moved around too much and felt like a weight on my head...they were most uncomfortable I've ever tried...the sound I didn't think was great but just ok... honestly I haven't yet found the perfect head phones for me😁
I was an uneducated pleb who did not understand headphones, so when my dad gave me a choice of free headphones, I chose the beats cause they were the only ones I heard of. They broke on me twice in a year
My colleague had a pair of beats that sounded horrible - he thought it was the best. Looked like a traffic controller walking into work. It was stolen 🤔 suddenly. I introduced him to 50$ headphones. He hasn't looked back since lol
I bought my M50's based on reviews and I thought Marques did very professional, unbiased reviews. I watched more than one comparison. I had watched other reviewers but it was Marques who sold me on the M50's with my budget. I managed to get an awesome deal that came with the headphones. I got two removable cables one spiral and one straight that is 6ft. the pouch, an extra jack, an iPhone portable charger, a Fiio amplifier, a SanDisk card, and a mini camera bag for $139.oo (BUYDIG online) It's not there at that price now but it could come back. Keep shopping around. It paid off for me.
