What? You showed of the Dolby ATMOS holding it in portrait mode? I can hardly hear any difference with it in portrait.
And I'll tell you what I like most about the phone and that is when you set the alarm you can tell it to tell you the time when it goes off.
This phone is good until like a year later.
Battery capacity/performance goes to shit, it's slow as hell even with NOTHING running, it overheats constantly esp when it gets slow (which is constant).
ZTE also doesn't let you transfer anything onto your SD card without a computer, otherwise you're screwed.
Button symbols are the same because they can be swapped. This phone can be easily OEM unlocked at the Bootloader for you users with a brain. So all these software issues are easily ignored. You're buying this phone for its hardware. Adoptable storage is an option once you change the rom as usual. Be a wolf, not sheep.
OK if you are watching and you are thinking of buying the phone
The software has been fixed
The bell notification has been fix
About the buttons being same you will get it after three days
And because your mind is so accustomed to it you can locate the buttons in the dark
Thanks for the video.
Well some of those thing were fixed on the Axon 7 mini but the Axon 7 mini owners had to wait longer to update to Android 7 which gave us multi-window and let us run apps that crashed before the update.
I know now I'll have to do an Axon 7 mini video myself.
Hey mine is a A2017 but it works just fine and the one you mentioned about that that you have to touch the bell to see the notifications. It can be enabled in settings to see the notifications without tapping the bell icon☺️
You no longer have to tap the bell on the notification panel and the camera has had huge improvements as well as the fingerprint sensor. Great video though, Keep up the good work man! Just earner yourself a new subscriber!!
I was interested in this phone about a month back but am rejecting the idea of getting an Axon 7 since getting a Samsung J7. The reason? Overpriced damn phone by ZTE where high spec camera at 20mp or whatever does NOT justify a damn $400 price point
the buttons are only dots because you can change what they do! I love it as I seem to be the only one that prefers having the back button on the left. lock screen notification bell - you have a finger print scanner... you don't even need to press the power button to open your phone and with it being a finger scanner on the back not a thumb on the front I personally have it unlocked before my hand even leaves my pocket, think the only time I see the lock screen is if the phone restarts. can't defend the camera, it's just a trade off for the price being so good and same for the lack of SD integration but compared to the big brand flagships and even the oneplus 3, the fact you can use a memory card at all is fantastic!
I needed to know the pros and cons given I am looking for a budget, smart phone to replace my first generation Moto G (don't judge me). I am familiar with one plus 3, Alcatel, and Honor. I am, however, leaning towards the Moto G 5 or the Moto Z play. I guess if you go Moto, you get hooked.
Another con : If you crack your screen or anything goes wrong with this phone, you're absolutely screwed! There are no aftermarket replacement screen/digitizer/screen assembly available and moreover, you will lose the waranty if you don't send it to ZTE to be repaired for whatever issue you have with it.
The phone comes with 2 year warranty and ZTE will charge you approx. $90 for the screen, you will send it to them, it will arrive a week later, they will "repair it" for another 10 - 15 days and send it back to you. Then you will wait another week to arrive. The repair will be performed by somebody who had a quick training to do it and reading manuals while doing it. This person is most-likely a former delivery guy or waiter, maybe a dog walker. But what I just described is the best case scenario. When I sent mine for screen replacement it was fully functional and I was using it with the cracked screen for a month before I send it to them. 12 days after it was delivered to them I decided it's been too long and called them to see what's the progress. They told me the phone is unrepearable !??!! There was no damage on the frame or anywhere else but the top layer glass when I sent the phone to them. The technical support representative told me if I need more details I need to wait 48 hours for him to contact the technicians and find out why exactly is unrepearable. 48 hours later I called again and after 20 min conversation they told me I have to wait up to another 48 hours, so that they can escalate it to another department. And promised to call me as soon as they obtain any details. Nobody called in the next 48 hours, so I called again and asked to speak with a manager. The "manager" told me "she will escalate the problem to the responsible department" but also told me the motherboard is damaged, therefore is unrepearable. The only thing they can do is ship to me a refurbished device to replace mine. The problem is, that my phone was used for only 2 months and taken care of. From the minute I got it out of the box it was put in protective case and screen protector. They want to ship to me a device with unknown history that could be all scratched, the battery might be half worn out, the charging port might be barely making contact, the previous owner has been spitting on it and so on and so forth. So now I need to wait another 4 days for them to find out who is lying that the motherboard is damaged. If they ever tell me, I will update the comment.
There is another option they give you if something goes wrong with your phone. Initially you pay them $90 for the repair + $435 which they will hold for a month, then they ship you a refurbished device that becomes yours and once you receive it, you should send yours to them. Once they receive your phone, they will decide if it's covered by their warranty. If they decide it's being water damaged or something else to void the warranty, they will keep your $435 and you will be screwed with refurbished phone with no warranty for more than the price of brand new one (I paid $300 for mine at Best Buy)
I own the Asian version of ZTE Axon 7 (6gb and 128gb storage) Your review is indeed very representative of Axon 7. These are exactly the points that I have issues with. I would only add that the phone is VERY slippery and do not advise to handle it without a decent case or skin.
for all those stupid comment of ONLY 3250 mah ... jus remeber that this phone has a 2k" large screen, so that why actually many people report that they only reach about 3 hours of ON SCREEN most of the time. Plus those Chinse UI ofen take significant extra baterry rather tha more pure Android version. Soi the point is correct idiots. -_-
the camera and software is the worst amongst all! I'm using A2017G the camera shoots very very bad quality pictures and the sound quality due to software updates it became worst when plug in my headphone jacks!
lol... the fingerprint scanner works fine with dry fingers he said.. why the hell would you be using this phone with wet fingers.. it's not waterproof...hahahaha... I'm guessing he meant with sweaty fingers...just thought it was funny at the time...
*This phone should be $100 or $200 more* without camera compromises and software tweaks(more android pure). Mid-Rage to me seems silly. If you have trouble paying for top tier $650+ phone, than you should go lower speced. If you can't afford a $700 phone, than go for sub $200 used or new budget phone. Most people who pay for mid tier are scraping to afford it. You should be able to drop $700 on a phone and not even care too much of money gone if you dropped it and broke. Only worry should be getting in contact with business associates/family/friends. The features in this phone are great with DAC and front facing speakers, and AMOLED, and fast charging. Features missing in high end phones audio wise, so they should up the price and keep it for the people who can afford dropping the cash on phones in the first place. Stick to budget phones under $200 people!
Big issue with the Axon 7 outside the US is the second class citizen treatment users get. The EU version doesn't get the close to stock Android version the US gets. It gets a buggy, highly modified and ugly version that also doesn't get updates as fast. Want to switch to a different ROM? Not so fast, the bootloader is locked. Unlocking it is difficult and risky, unlike the US version where you can just ask for an unlock...
Your video is so ridiculous OMG you are nick picking at the finger print scanner why would any finger print scanner work with dirty fingers and why would you pick up your 📱 if your hands were that dirty. Remember crack is wack
I got the axon 7 a while back and I agree with everything you said but I don't find the capacitive buttons bad at all. They are a little close together but I have never had any problems or irritation using them.
The capacitive buttons is a good point rather than bad. I like the way ZTE made their capacitive buttons such that I can switch the "back" and "recent" buttons like those found in Samsung phones. This is why it is shown as two dots so that the buttons can be switched. For those interested in switching or prefer the right hand to tap the back button, LG V20 is the other phone that lets you switch the capacitive buttons.
I think that ZTE is on the right track with the Axon series. Axon 8 , if they take care of the front button and make them backlit and further polish the software. I almost/might consider the Axon 7/8 just as a musikplayer. God thinking there ZTE!
Yes, it is excellent in those conditions. I wont dispute that nor should i. But you act like the Axon 7's camera comes with VGA or some shit. Axon's camera is more than enough for most everyday shots. I've had worser cameras(Zenfone 2)...
GFA Showcase you never go to clubs or bars with your friends? You dont walk the streets after the sun goes down? I shoot just as much in low light than in daytime. And my S7 is excellent in these conditions
I just bought one. I like many things abt the phone but one I don't like is the fact the apps are NOT installed in the App drawer in alphabetical order. In order to do so one has to manually drag the apps into alphabetical order one by one. Yuck! I also don't like the fact that you can NOT create folders & place them where you want them like you can in most other Androids phones. Also the Calender and Mail Apps are very "Washed Out or Bleached Out" looking, not enough contrast. Hopefully when ZTE releases Android N for the Axon 7, they will fix a lot of the complaints and bugs.
ThierryTheuns yeah I got a 256 gb SD and started converting cds into FLACs plus google play premium your right the sound quality is excellent. I'm trying to convince my younger sister to get the A7 mini only 199$ at best buy right now, yeah its got some lower specs then it's big brother but she wants an iPhone 5s which the A7 mini beats it in every aspect, sucks she doesn't realize what a deal that is. iPhone and Samsung are way overpriced.
+kickthejamz My main reason were those two as well. My 250Ohm DT990s sound great with the phone, even my old music (downloaded in 2006) still sounds good. And the dual speakers blew my friends' mind comparing them to their phones.
ThierryTheuns yeah I don't game much either, the biggest selling point for me was the Hi-fi audio DAC and the dual speakers, I even bought a new set of JBL headphones because I love my music, such a great phone, I don't see any reason to update anytime soon either
