I would normally go with stock Android because I love the simplicity of it. But honestly I been with stock Android all my life and frankly I'm sorta of over it. I like to have tons of options and customization it keeps you engaged. There is always down sides and compromises but I'm ready to step out and experience different skins. I know I'm not gonna get the latest and greatest updates if I don't go with the Pixel and I'm going to miss the front firing speakers I've been spoiled by them my last 2 phones had them but its time to step out. Each year it's stock Android stock Android I want a fun phone a phone I can make unique too me that's why I'm choosing the Mate 10 Pro.
i have a Mate 10 pro... its a fucking beast, and with both manual mode for camera and video, i personally think it eats the pixel 2 xl alive..... google, apple and samsung are just hype trains ... dive deep into a product like the mate 10 pro and you will see just how good other companies have become...oh and btw my mate 10 pro get down to 70 % battery life when im about to sleep.... literally thats how good it is.
Whatever phone has the best camera will be my daily driver. And since that currently is the 2/2XL, that's what i'll be rocking.
Everyone's got different preferences when it comes to a phone, so to those of you rocking a Mate 10 Pro, or any other phone for that matter, rock on!
A smartphone is a tool, plain and simple. You use the best tool for the job, so whatever phone does the most things for you, is the right phone for you. There is no "best phone" on the market, only the "best phone for you."
With that said, much love to all the phones that are making people's lives better.
I'm ordering the mate 10 pro us version, I've been researching it nonstop, and it's future proof for me, cameras are solid, one of the few other Android's running Oreo, kirins npu learns as you go making your phone more efficient, also it has 1.2 gb download speed which the 845 chip will have to with it's new x20 modem, I'm just waiting on my tax return lol
I LOVE my huawei p9,
BUT! A big one, they are so slow with their updates, it is ridiculous in a way!
It is almost like they forget their old phones and just focus on the new models.
So i would choose a pixel 2XL even if huawei is great in many ways.
Mate 10 pro all the way... Feels slicker in the hand, less bezels, 8.0 oreo out of the box, I like the AI enabled camera, beast of a battery (a power user's dream, I regularly get 6,30 hours of SOT with 24 hours of battery life... Draining continously one charge I got a wopping 9,30 hours of SOT with wifi), charging is scary fast, like 30% in 15 minutes, 60% in 3p mins and 100% in 1h and 15 mins...Most people think 6gb of RAM isnt neccessary and yea they are right, but here's the kicker. Whenever I clear my background apps, I get a message that 3,22gb wete freed, so if you have 4gb you are really on the edge. I think 4,5Gb or 4,75gb would be great, but since no one is offerring that, I'd take 6gb rather than 4gb any day
I pre-ordered the Mate 10 Pro. I’d choose that over the pixel for the AI Processor built by Huawei, the 4000 mAh battery, look of the phone and features. Dual phone profiles, translation feature and IR blaster!! I miss that on phones! By the way, great comparison review! Keep it up the good work!
Agreed. Making all glass phone is stupid and unreliable. Would choose the Pixel but they completely ignore dual SIM and expandable storage sooo they basically ignore me... Guess what I am choosing. Also they ignore the Europe totally. Pixel XL 2 costs a fricking 1250 euros in my country which is almost exact price of iPhone X. And in US You guys get it for as low as 800 USD. WTF??? 😫
It’s a difficult one! They’re both really good looking phones. Really it all comes down to software. You either love stock android or prefer a skin over the top. I like stock android but I do feel that it’s sometimes overly simplistic. Customisation is a big selling point for me and Huawei’s Emotion UI does offer that over the stock android experience. Whereas Google seemed to decide that people really only need the basic stuff - which is okay but it seems a bit dull and uninspiring. If you like playing with your phones settings (including camera stuff) and other features as I do, then the Huawei is probably the best. If you want a phone that you setup on day one and never have to worry about anything like settings and features then get a Google Pixel 2 XL or normal Pixel 2. Google phones are Android at its simplest and definitely the most refined, but you’d expect that from a company which owns and develops Android anyway.
Okay so I was I brand ambassador for google when the pixel 2 and 2 xl launched and when it came to getting a new phone I went for the mate ten pro, I love both phones but it was the pro setting on the camera which made me go for the mate ten, also with the prospects that the mate ten is only going to get better as they develop the AI in it. It was a phone for long term. The pixel 2 XL is a beast of a phone and would recommend either :)
Right Jared I don't care about wireless charging either!! And yes the mate 10 Pro needs to have front facing speakers instead of a bottom firing speakers! I don't care about AMOLED displays actually b/c they're not accurate colors like the LCD screens but Amoled is okay! Samsung needs to stop over-saturating its cameras and have a natural camera color accuracy like the iPhone 7 plus!!! Great Review Jared!!!! :-)
Google pixel 2 xl because of the front facing speaker's plus one of the best camera in any smartphone and last I would have to agree with you stock Android is nice to have. Great video btw keep up the good work🙂
I have the Huawei 10 pro and it's an awesome phone but I purchased it as a 4 week old 2nd hand for only £500 unlocked. I couldn't get the pixel xl2 for anywhere near £700 so as they were do similar opted for the cheaper option
I actually had to choose between the pixel 2 XL and the mate 10 pro and I chose the mate 10 something about the design, the software and the crazy fast charging just seemed to bore me but that's only my opinion :/
Well, for me both these phones are too expensive and have some serious compromises. Missing headphone jack is just one of them. But for that kind of pricepoint I expect a perfect device with all the features I need. And they don't.
I own both and u agree with all your points. There are 2 additional key differences that keep taking me back to my Pixel. Notifications in the Pixel are very intuitive and the ambient notifications are awesome. No comparison on the M10P. Customizable screensaver daydream does not function in the H10P which bugs me. The camera on the M10P is better in my opinion BUT, the camera in the Pixel is smarter and more consistent. The M10P is so much prettier than the Pixel but I'm always afraid I'm going to hurt the M10P. Those are my comments. Thanks fir the video...
The pixel 2 XL squeeze feature would be less gimmicky if you could re map it to do something else.
Yes i do know there is a way to use an app to do that but you need to run a adb command to enable it. I'm assuming most people probably don't want to go through that trouble, but i wish google would allow us a more easier way to do it!
the point about the glass and Metal back is what you wrong when you use the Metal body in first month you will be okay but after a month you will start going to anger about the Metal but with glass I dont have that weird problem of Metal back body its just feel weird,if you use sony phone you will know what im saying or other phone with alot of Metal area
