Question: You mentioned about fuel injectors in very start of the video so it should be Direct Injection Gasoline Engine but when you explained the strokes you took mixture of air and fuel directly from the intake valve why theres no injector in explanation??

Doubt : What gives the enough pressure to the gas to push the piston ?
allegroracing (1 month ago)
The gas and air mixture is ignited by the spark plug and explodes. It's the explosion that pushes the piston down.

Won’t VVTI throw off the timing of the engine if it constantly changes the valve opening/closing? Especially if it only controls one camshaft?

Automotive engineer here. At 2:31 it says that higher compression ratio require higher octane fuel. First, it is not the combustion chamber and the cylinder that is build around fuel, but the other way around. A fuel with higher hydrocarbures links is more likely to combust on it's own because of it's more volatile nature (it stores way more energy, thus unstable) ergo it makes an alternative fuel beside gas. That being said, with a fuel that is volatile enough to combust on it's own (at high temperatures and pressure), engineers made an alternative internal combustion engine with more space, so the fuel can accumulate enough pressure and temperature during the compression phase, thus making higher compression ratio! Second, a fuel that is more likely to combust on it's own would have a high cetane number, not octane. An octane number is quite the opposite. Octane number represents the fuel's capacity to not combust on it's own. Usually cetane is associated with diesel and octane with gas! Have a nice day :D

Hello allegroracing i am a 14 year old boy that is starting to study the engine because i really think my future is in cars and learning how to fix and make money from being a mechanic i was wondering do u think i should start by learning about how the engine works and start my career from there or is there any other ways to start off
allegroracing (5 months ago)
Most of us who were mechanics and/or worked on cars learned from working on family cars (under supervision) then taking auto shop classes in High School or at a vocational school. Modern cars are highly electronic so professional careers now need proper trade schools which have manufacturer approved curriculums. I raced Karts and got my introduction to mechanics there then did the Jim Russell British School of Motor Racing Mechanics Training Program where I learned many more skills. Though I didn't end up as a professional mechanic, my automotive expertise is the basis of all my subsequent careers.

forgot the fact that the older yotas have a crossover pipe which doesn't allow for maximum breathability and causes the head gaskets to blow prematurely. Also the poor exhaust design also causes the valves for the 6th cylinder to also go bad prematurely by the heat that bypasses that 6th cylinder before dumping down to the actual exhaust. resulting in a loss of compression as the valves get burnt out and don't seat properly. the yotas are also tight as hell when it comes to working on them. to fix all of this you have to install headers dropping down to either a dual exhaust or add a crossover underneath the car! its all BS. not to mention you cannot fit a cateltic converter in the aftermarket exhaust system without a bunch of cutting and fitting.... save yourself some headache and get a chevy with a bigger engine for more power and also more room to work on the thing. hopefully Toyota realized all the cons and changed it. people like me don't find out until after we pay an overpriced amount for a piece of eventual scrap metal! thank god my father is a brilliant man and has experience working on cars.... we just added headers on my car. now we have to hunt the exhaust leak we created by changing the shit original design of the exhaust. we had to cut out the old crossover pipe out with a sawzall which was a lot easier than unbolting the seaming impossible bolts, ditch the catalytic converter which may now be causing a difference in back pressure.... FINALLY after tons of research and a bunch of work my car sounds like a Harley! :(

Dillon Kidder I've seen such a good reply rarely. But I really don't know much about what you put forward as I've less deep knowledge of this topic. But it's really interesting.

just think about it. Combustion engine was created 100-120 years ago? And people from today are fascinated by the way this engine runs. Imagine what were the people thinking in back in the days when combustion engine was brought up to the world... they must’ve thought that is some kind of alien shit or something... :)

4:16 when you said all Toyota 6 and 8 cylinder engines are in a v configuration you where incorrect the Toyota Supra used a inline 6 DOHC twin turbo called the 2-JZ which is legendary in the after market tuning comity which is called JDM which stands for Japanese domestic market
